Yeah . . . I wanted to go early, but good ol' work ****ed me on that one so that ain't happenin.
From the way it looks, we could meet you guys either in Champaign, where our routes would converge, or Effingham.

I'll get the directions to the gas station we met at in Effingham, that seemed to work out well last year.

Ya what time would that put you guys in Effingham ?
sonza68
06-15-2006, 12:22 PM
Heather had said 12:30 as a nominal meetup time. I guess we'll see how the Midwest guys feel about that since they have the longest drive.

06-15-2006, 01:03 PM
Mapquest ballparks it at 4:18, so I don't see any issue with being in Effingham at noon-thirty, we'll roll out about 8 a.m. . . . and you guys already know how I drive. ;)
which one Tad? Something still wrong with the one we did the engine swap on?
Yeah.. it's leaking oil like a mofo
Hopefully I'll be able to fix it myself (unlikely)..
I wanna finish gutting it out and clean it up a little for before fest
is dorkasaurus still going to the festival of cougars?
it would be lovely for two mustangs to go.
we will get hated on hardcore.
and i'll hate the haters right back!

There's no tollbooth's south of I-80 so we shouldn't run in to any problems. ;)

That sucks tad.... we did everything by the book especially when it came to the head gaskets and head bolt specs... wonder what it is. Do you know where its leaking from?
So Tom your going at the normal time them not a day early? And that would put us at GIR around 10 ish give or take?
sonza68
06-16-2006, 02:56 PM
I'm leaning toward leaving on Wec, but I haven't made a final decision yet. If you were to meet at GIR at 10 and be on the road by 10:30 you should get into Effingham around noon to noon fifteen.

I'm bumping this up to finalize our caravan meeting time. The Gateway and Midwest group look like they're planning on being in Effingham around 12:30, so I'm assuming we're meeting at the Hinsdale Oasis just like last year. But what time do we want to plan to be there? I forgot how long it takes to get to F'ing ham  I'm going to edit my 1st post with a list of who's going to meet for the caravan, so we know who to wait for and all that jazz :)

Where is this mysterious gas station in ****ingham?
Aries
06-27-2006, 03:25 AM
Thanks for getting this up adam.. I really don't know what time we should meet either. Reagan or Heather usually handled this stuff..
Aries
06-27-2006, 03:28 AM
According to MapQuest, it's about 3.5 hours. So if we left around 9:00, we'd be get there when they do. So I say we meet around 8:30 or so at the Oasis.

where is that Meeting place: Hinsdale Oasis at? I'll go with you guys to the CF, but I have to go back to chicago by that night, bc I get the school orientation on Friday July 7th 9:30am. after that I'll go back to CF again.
Aries

That's a lot of driving.. we won't be getting into Indy til probably around 3.. then it's another 3 or 4 hour trek back.. U sure you want to do that? If so, Rock on!
The way we're taking to indy (through effingham) adds an extra 3 hours to the ride.. That's what the directions posted are for. Think about a right triangle.. instead of getting from point A to point B through the hypotenuse, we're following the 2 sides. (Apologies, I like math)
So if you go home, and come back, you should find an alternate route to Indy and back, because the directions posted is about a 5 or 6 hour drive, when the drive to Indy is actually about a 3 hour drive.
Hinsdale Oasis is on 294, just south of 88. We'll meet at the South bound part of the Oasis.Use this site as a guide to where it's at. http://www.illinoisoases.com/locations.html

Yeah man, if I were you, I would just leave to CF on Friday. That's wayyyy too much driving, and kinda not worth it.

I'm thinking that I'll meet you guys at effingham, bc I will be in st.louis July4~6,,then I'll drive up to CF, then go back to chicago at night. that way I'll got about 6~7 hours drive total. is that cool? what do you guys think?

No arguments here.
Like I said, some people just don't get it.
I'm actually waiting to here on the other guy, if he decides to back out too, then y'all will be seein my happy ass at the Hinsdale Oasis at nine Thursday morning. I've got no problem turning a 4 1/2 hour drive in to a nine hour journey. I'm hardcore like that. ;)

Most of us northern IL/South WI feel that a 3 to 4 hr drive is WAY to short for a cougarfest caravan. Especially since we were used to 10 - 15 hr drives to cougar fest. Even Flat Rock was a 5 hr drive!! LOL!
The caravan is half the cougar fest fun anyway!

Yes, RonrASS!!!
Umm yeah like I havent heard that from Ryan before, for someone like you that was seriously lacking in originality.
like "wahhhh i dont wanna buy a couple extra gallons of gas!!!" is really an earth-shattering proclamation.
Oh, wait, all those words I just typed are in the dictionary. Crap. So much for originality

EDISON! You are welcome to do what you want, but my personal suggestion to you is to just go home from St. Louis on Thursday, and then drive to Indy for Cougarfest on your own on Friday.
You're welcome to meet us in Effingham, but nothing ever happens Thursday at Cougarfest... most people aren't even there yet. We just kinda get there and mill around for food, etc. We usually check in... but it can be done Friday too, and I'll let the guys know you're still coming. You are still more than welcome to do it... but in my opinion, its a lot of driving for nothing really.
Either way man, write down my cell phone: 630-892-6959. Call me if you need help/get lost. And PM me yours too. We don't want to loose anyone.

And for the whole Ronrazz, ov3n, BBox... thing. So what... let them take a more direct route. Its good they are just going at all... a lot of people aren't even doing that!
and the sarcasm apparently went over reagan's head..
