I wont bore everyone with lots of details but today on the highway I joined in with 2 other cars that were toying around and had the opportunity to test myself against a mid 90's M3 as well as an S2000. The M3 looked fairly stock but the S2000 had a body kit, bronze colour wheels and one of those big mufflers kinda hanging on an angle.
Playing around with the M3, I quickly discovered that I definitly need a bit more Oomph especially Torque to keep up. The only time it was not really that bad was when we both eased into it and then once rolling at a good speed went into it. I did get pulled a car or car and a half. Now if we had gone from a lower speed, it would have been worse for sure....
The S2000 got in front of me so I was tailing him pretty close, as soon as the car in front of him moved over, he went for it (I anticipated this and did the same). I can honestly say that he didnt pull an inch. We went up to 200km/hr in which case I had to change lanes because I was going to tap his bumper. Now he did have his windows down about 1/2 way so I'm sure this caused lots of drag at those speeds.
Just out of curiosity, how would a stock 240HP older M3 compare to an S2000 which is also stock? In this case, I found the M3 to be considerably stronger.
My car is nothing special. Its a 98 Contour SVT thats making roughly 175hp at the wheels. I dont have a stereo in there and I dont have the spare tire or jack in there. The mods only consist of exhaust, gutted precats, modded stock y-pipe and a KKM.
