View Full Version : UPDATE: Jeremy is leaving the glorious world of a job in NYC and slumming it... :)

So, for those that don't know, I commute from central western NJ every day into NYC. It's about 1h 45min door to door... every day, 5 days a week, and it sucks.

I work in National Advertising sales rep firm for Radio. My company basically is a Rep firm that sells airtime on our stations for national advertising spot radio. My company reps a large amount of stations, and we are the largest rep firm in the country...

My place of work is very cool, I work with awesome people, have a great time but the commute and commuter costs are killing me since the pay isn't soooo amazing.

Being a born salesman, and wanting to stay in sales, I have been on a few interviews for internal and external sales positions. Annoyingly enough, I got all of them.

I decided to take one of the closest positions, in a position that is more hated by consumers than any other occupation, even lawyers... I will be selling cars :)

WOOHOO... I'm damn excited. Seriously...

I had 5 different offers from dealerships, and opted for the one with the best pay plan (and the smallest sales force). I will be working for Baker Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep on Rt 206 in Princeton, starting in about 2 weeks.

I figured, I graduated college, and there's no good jobs for what I want to do, so why not choose one with better earning potentials than I have now. In any of my other sales positions I have always outsold all others in my area, even the seasoned veterans. So this should be fun.

I know some people find it cool to say, "Hey, I work in NYC... in Radio"... But F- That... I want more money, and I want more selling. This isn't the end of my road however. I had a second motive in choosing this. I'm in the process of scheduling a GMAT exam, and applying to local colleges (Rutgers or Rider), and getting my MBA... I will have a schedule at the dealership that will allow me to do this. So in a couple years, I will have even more sales experience, and my MBA... then I can get to where I want to be... A McDonalds french fryer :)... Just kidding... But seriously, I will finally be "qualified" on paper to get interviews in the areas where I currently fall short.

So that's my update... If you need or want a car... Give me a call... I will honestly help you out the best I can.

Well... back to NJNECO being a boring place...

With the declining sales of GM and the fact they are giving away cars for free... I wouldn't sell one unless I was guaranteed $50k+ whether or not I sold any cars.

Get a new Dakota or Ram... C'mon... ya know you want to...

Maybe ill come by and check out one of those 300M things that I see in all of the rap videos.

Youll have to let me know how thats all going and working out for you. I too want a new job but i suck at wiriting a resume. You need a short story, poem, fictional tale of a oscillating fan...im your man but fact to fact Im horrid.

Nice to see some life in here....thought we all had died:bs:

You mean the 300C... they are cool... Also have the Magnum RT and Charger RT... same 5.7L Hemi... or get the SRT8 version (there's also an SRT8 Jeep Grand Cherokee) with the 6.1L V8....

It should be good. I tried the whole "real job" thing, and it sucks. I love selling (as it's all I've ever really done), so I will continue in an industry that how good you are in a direct correlation to how much you make... and I like that.

It's sooooo dead in here these days...

Maybe people will come to visit me at work... I'm right off Rt 206 in princeton (near the unniversity).

Cool... We live right next to each other and I haven't seen you in like a year... We really suck in NJNECO...

Well it should be cool... I love cars, I love selling... so the combo should be just grand :)

Man... I can't believe only you and I post in here... where is everyone else?

Yeah we really do weak it up. I guess everyone else got too important and too busy to represent anymore. Especially Axio, I messaged him my phone number to give me a ring and that beyotch didnt even call me back. Sucka.

Lemme know when ya do get going there and ill swing by sometime and we should go get drinks or something one night, maybe even meet in Freehold see if like Frank, Jon, or anyone can get together.

Sounds good to me...

I think Frank is a Daddy now... probably for over a year iirc. I could be wrong, but the last I heard his GF was pregnant.

Let's go to Charlie Brown's one of these nights... some Steak, Salad, and BS... that's a solid night to me.

That's fine with me too... Any night of the week except Monday's usually...

Not sure what my new schedule will be... But it'll be similar...

Only thing I do after work is: eat, sleep, and/or go to the gym...

Listen kids, lets keep this "conversation" between PMs. There is no reason to keep replying back and forth to eachother on the boards!!!! :blah:  :blah:  :blah:

Actually Jeremy, I wish you the best of luck with that. Let me know when you guys have a weekend get together, and I may try to swing by, like the good old days of NJ NECO......when you had meets!

Yeah... all of this coming from a guy who owns a Honda Civic Hybrid... just to drive in the HOV lane... riiiiiiiiiight. We all you know you like men :)

But definitely all of us men should hang out one day if ya know what I mean ;)

I hear through the grapevine that Masta's hizzie is almost done... so maybe the house warming party will be on. We can have a DJ and play the song... "The roof, the roof, the roof is on fire" Or is that not a good idea :)

Ok, I'm done
