I was on my way to work going down a 2-lane road and I see this 197? corvette stingray so I'm thinking this should be interesting. So I catch up to him and I got the flowmaster howlin' I look over at him give it a bit of a rev he kinda smiles and he revs up a bit then I drop in to second at about 35 and punch it, he does the same and we're even, I almost hit the limiter and then went to third thats when I pulled on him, only by half a car but none the less it was the highlight of my day. I've got 2.5l, ASP pulley, gutted precats, trubendz dual with flowmaster, and some custom made EBAY SRI.

Those cars have **** for horsepower, and are pretty tubby and anemic for a Corvette, so I'm not surprised in the least you got 'im.
Nice kill.

those years of vette should be mid 16's. Excluding the L82 vettes which would be mid 15's. Also remember that the motor is more than likely old and worn out. so horse power is probably down from when it was new 30 years ago.
Edit: more info: 68-74 corvette's had the option of a big block 327/427/454 depending on year. but you would have know if it was a big block they ran mid-low 14's if i remember correctly.

I'm sure it was no big block cuz I know i'm not running mid-low 14's or high 14's for that matter. Either way I was happier than a retard in a room full of bouncy balls!

True. But my friend had a '77 with a small block chained to a three-speed auto, and even restored to stock the car was slow as balls for a Vette.

77 vette 1/4 mile time is 16.6.

They only got about 200HP out of those small blocks. The big block vettes had 370-425HP.
and they weighed in at about 3500 pounds

The older Vetts dont have a lot of HP But god damn they got some torque. Me and my dad bought a 85 vett with 159,XXX miles on it. Its rated at 225 hp but 330 TQ

In 1977 torque was 255. in the 70's the torque stayed under 300 but ussually above 250. This is excluding the big blocks 427CI 435HP and 460TQ, 454CI 390HP and 500TQ.

sweet...horsepower sells cars, but torque wins races.
