Ok I've notice lately a newer V6 White Tiburon 5sp driving around my area but but never have the timing to mess with him. Well today I'm leaving the college & notice a white tiburon coming up on my a$$ & my like hell yea its on like Donkey Kong ;) . So we turn off to another road & he rides my a$$ through 1 green light & we hit a Red light up the road side by side.
So we see the side lights turn yellow & I'm ready to test out the new Kumho's I bought the day before. So we take off in 1st normal & I just floor it going 30 @ 4500rpm & so does he & were back in forth into gears & I stay with him all the way into 4th @ 80mph & he slowly pulls & I shut it down.

I'd figure with me having a Zetec with a worn clutch(101,500 miles on it) & him having a V6 5sp that he would kill me  Aren't the V6 Cougars & the V6 Tiburon's have about the same spec's?
I for some reason didn't feel bad losing I guess because I didn't exspect to stay with a V6 anything with my car. What do you all think... if I had a stage 1 clutch should I have won?

nah, i won't throw the bs flag all the way. but since I used to have the i4 coug the tib is a lot faster. although I will say that the tibby is a harder car to drive than the i4, traction is a huge issue. so either a)he had some major car issues b) he completely sucks as driving and should buy a civic, or c) he wasn't racing. lol. the v6 tibby is about .7-1 second faster than a v6 coug with a good driver. but hey, drive out to georgia, we will take it to the track, and we'll film a race

Hah, yeah i agree.
I have a friend with an 02 tibby v6 and I barely beat him...and I've raced Cougarpimp *modded ZETEC* and beat him in the 1/4mi by a full second. So I'm going to be the first to call BS :)

BAH! I was posting as u did. Posh~ anyways...You sure you're not thinking the V6GT Tibby with the 6sp? Cuz i've beaten a v6 5sp tibby and im bone stock...Im pretty sure the 6sp tibby is the only one that's quicker

there really isn't much of a difference at all between the 5 and 6 speed tibby. both are really equal givin equal drivers.

Cuz i've beaten a v6 5sp tibby and im bone stock
like i said in the earlier post, launching these things are a b!tch bc of the way they are geared, and they have a bit more tq than the coug. it is for the most part a driver's race, but the tib should be quicker

Alright, I'll look up the supposed times to put my nerves to rest :) Not to mention i suck at driving a stick still :) cant launch for ****...im in a bone stock v6 5sp and ran a 16.319 1/4 and from what I hear, thats about .4 slower than it should be

"So we take off in 1st normal & I just floor it going 30 @ 4500rpm & so does he..."
Okay, I think this is an important piece to the story. You guys both drive through the intersection "in 1st normal(ly)" then you floor it. There is no way that he could have floored it right when you did, unless he has ESP. In my experience if someone takes off before I do, it is very hard to catch up, cuz I may need to downshift or something.
So, this should actually look more like this:

But, that's just my opinion.
Anyways, good fun racing a good race

No I'm serious He was racing unless it was a triponic or wtf the name is the "autostick" maybe, cause I know he was trying & I have the Full Weapon-R CAI with MSD Ignition coil, gutted cat straight pipe with end dual exhaust, Short throw shifter, & New Kumho's. So u think I'm totally :bs: or what? I'm getting the stage 1 focus clutch installed in July so I hope to get some V6 1/4times hopefully

When we were taking off from 1st he got about a fender length ahead & @ 30mph I was still in 1st & I floored & as soon as I was already beside him he punched it so it took maybe a 1/2 max reaction for him but I lost anyway but I think I just need a new clutch cause the cougar felt abit weak punching it compared to when I bought it @ 38,000miles.

Hey Tim don't the V6 Tiburons come with a "Autostick" also in which they could just tap the shifter into gear like the Mazda 6's? Cause in this cause it could have been that cause I could hear his car hitting high RPM's as I was

yeah, the automatic has a tiptronic type deal, but it doesn't really help. I drove one, and even when u do is that way, it still takes the car like, another second to shift. but it very well could have been one. not sure how much slower those are than the manuals.
