They're $107/$96 if I buy two sets. I'm working on getting a price for more - I'm going to shoot for 8-10 sets, probably. I expect another 10% off, but I'm not sure. I hope to finalize this soon, since I hate GBs that drag on for weeks, months, or years.
This is the Panther Plus compound, similar to, but better all-around than the Hawk HP+. These are the only truly track-worthy pad available for the Contour/Cougar. They are also probably the best option for a serious autocross pad. They will dust, they will be noisier than stock, and they will stop your car like a freaking anchor. They're also long life and pretty good on rotors for a pad this grippy.
I don't know Cougar brakes that well, but I belive the fronts will fit any Cougar, and the rears will fit any rear disc cougar. These will fit any Contour calipers except the E0 SVT calipers. I can look into rear shoes for you drum brake folks.
Any interest? I hope to finalize group buy numbers/prices this week.

Oh, I know I'm a bit new here - ask any CEGer for references. I'm a mod over at contour.org, where this GB is also being held.

Would these be OK for daily driving, or do they need too much heat to grab?
And yeah, he's OK. Long time member on CEG, same screen name.

Are these easily able to warp your rotors. I had a set of aftermarket pads on my OEM rotors and it warped and faded them to hell.

If you properly bed the pads, it shouldn't be a problem.

Rotors rarely ever warp. What is often diagnosed as rotor warp is either pad-buildup on the rotor, or rotors wearing unevenly. There are various causes for both problems, but pads are rarely the root. Using agressive pads on the street can cause buildup, but getting them hot usually cleans them right off. Proper bedding goes a long way in preventing this as well.
This compound is up to temp at 150*. that means that completely stone cold they'll feel slippery, but it does not take long at all to get pads up to 150* on the street. They are streetable, but not the pads you want if you don't do any track days. If your pads are not going to see any track use, don't get the Panther Plus. You can get pads in the Bobcat compound, but I don't think the GB will go that way. You can get Hawk HPS and other pads that will work fine for autocross/DD, so there's no need to get a custom run.

Email from Carbotech for you to see:
Yes, the AX6 compound (panther plus) is the way to go for everyday street driving mixed with autox and track day events. They do create some dust and noise, but it's not that big a deal. Yes, if you put together a group of contour guys I will give you a good discount. We can order those backing plates from one our suppliers, or you guys can send us some used ones (no damage). Tell me how many guys you think you can get together to do a group buy and I will let you know what I can do. Our pads are all Ceramic based, so they have excellent modulation and are very rotor friendly. Please let me know if you have any other questions or comments.
For the front in AX6, the price is $119 and $107 for the rear. If you order two sets I will take off 10% from the total.

Hey guys. The pads are in, and look great! I still have one set ready to go. These are the best pads you can get for the Contour/Cougar. They will work great on the street and I'm told dust and noise are better than Hawk HP+. On the track/autocross course they'll out-grip anything else you can get for our calipers. If you get this set from me it's the GB price of $190 to your door, shipping tomorrow. If you order from Carbotech it's $226 + ship, and they have to take two weeks to order backing plates, make them, and ship them! Also, there was a pricing mixup - they gave me 25% off when they meant to give 15%! That means even if there is another GB the pricing will not be this good!

Any deals possibly on the Panther Plus AX6 pads? Just wondering, how would the AX6 compare to Mintex 1144 Carbon Pads in longevity, friction coeffiecient, etc. I daily drive the car, but do track days once or twice a year, so I don't want a 'track' pad, just one that'll handle it.

The Panther Plus is what I have a set of, and they're much better than the Mintex at track use. I'm in the same situation you are: daily driven car that sees some track use. These pads will take the heat of a long track session without fading like the Mintex, but retain good cold torque so they're safe on the street, and don't kill your rotors like a track-only pad. The downside is that they're expensive and will dust slightly more than a regular street pad. I havent' run them yet, but the guys that run Carbotech regularly say the dust is very easy to wash off, and non-corrosive.
I searched all over for a pad that would do what I want, and turned up nothing, which is why I had this GB. They are the only pad that is really track-worthy that's available right now.
I ordered 5 sets but someone backed out so there's one left. $190 shipped and it goes out tomorrow if you want...
