Up for sale is my Protege. I used the car for a daily driver. The car is running awesome and is in good shape as you will see in the pics. The car is older and does have some quirks but over all it is nice for the age.
The bad:
The driver window goes down slow and ratchets. It does work it just takes a little patients. The previous owner said the car had the window smashed and has been that way since it was replaced. The driver mirror housing is cracked. I forgot to take a pic of this, the power mirror still works and it isnt really an issue other than cosmetic. The driver power seat belt does not go into the open position 50% of the time when the door is opened. The motor and everything is fine, it is just a switch somewhere. It always goes to closed position when driving and locks. The driver door is missing the entry light lense.
The good:
Heres the list of everything i fixed or replaced.
Engine:
Timing belt, timing belt tensioner. Spark plugs/wires. Coolant flush. Valve cover gasket (common on these cars) The previous owner also did the distributor and had the fuel filter changed along with injector cleaning.
Fuel:
New fuel filler neck and attached hoses.
Exhaust system:
Head pipe, catalytic converter and pipe. The rest of the exhaust is still good and the muffler was replaced by the previous owner recently. It works but sounds stupid.
Driveline/Chassis:
New clutch, pilot bearing, Throwout bearing, rebuilt flywheel from standard flywheels. Slave cylinder and hydraulic hose. Front wheel bearings. Driver CV axle. Outer tie rod ends. New tires all around (kumho tires, excellent in snow and rain) Ball joints, sway bar endlinks. Axle seals, wheel bearing seals, new short throw shifter and custom made bushings and bolt. I dont drive the car hard, just that the stock shifter is ridiculous. There might be some stuff here that i am forgetting.
Brakes:
Front brakes were replaced recently by previous owner- calipers, rotors, pads. The rear brakes have new rotors and pads and one new caliper- replaced because i broke the bleeder off. The other rear caliper looks fairly new.
Interior:
There will be a cd player installed (there is right now but im taking it out when i sell it and putting in a cheaper one). The front speakers are infinity reference 2 ways and the rear speakers are pioneer OEM style replacments. Otherwise interior is VERY clean with no cig burns or tears.
Options on the car:
This is the loaded version of the protege. It has the more powerful dohc engine and shorter ratio transmission. It has 4 wheel disc brakes, power windows and mirrors, rear defroster, working cruise control, cd player, fold down rear seats with trunk pass through and working AC; although the AC could probably use a recharge because it takes a little while to get cold.
Driving:
The car drives straight down the road. There are no vibrations in the steering wheel and drives very smooth. The clutch is very easy, the transmission shifts smooth. Everything works.
Body:
There is very little rust for the year. Most visible rust is on the inside of the doors and is not visible on the outside of the car. There is one spot above the rear bumper starting to bubble as shown in the pic. There is of course small dings and dents and scratches.
