Ok i dont have a red line on my tachometer lol. Any one know the red line for a 99 cougar v6?? Thnx for any help

The rev limiter's around 6250.

6950. Peak power falls off around 6200 though, so if you're at the drag strip its probably better to shift around there instead of taking it all the way to redline.

Doesn't really matter, the car knows where it is. You'll bounce the rev limiter when you hit it, and you'll definitely know it. :evil:

No your engine WONT let you hit the actual red line. The rev limiter will kick in and your RPMs will start to fall no matter what you do.

My rev limiter is at 7200 RPM . . . which is also where my red line is. :evil:

Never once hit the rev limiter.
But then again that happens when you drive an ATX...

car hits rev limiter and limits fuel flow to engine... your RPMS fall... you slow down -or- shift and then you move on

They don't exactly "start to fall"... it just bounces off it.
I hit that thing all the time :banghead:

Heh, you should of drove Aaron's (JAMallot) old I4 ATX coug. It felt like your about to bounce of the rev limiter because it runs so long before it finally shifts.
