Trans Ams are fast...

I was coming back from applebees with 7 of my friends (3 in my car and the other 4 in a black Mazda 6) and a black trans am decided he wanted to play. Going into this I knew it was a dumb idea. We got even and punched it at about the same time and surprisingly, until we both shifted into 4th we stayed fairly even. Once 4th came around though, he was gone. Even though I got schooled I must say, given the massive fuel leak I had (I wish I had taken pictures of the destroyed o-ring between my fuel line and rail :eek: ) I didnt think I did too badly.

I would too. I love the looks of the Trans Am from like 98 through the end. Plus they are very easy to make fast, just I bet they would be terrible in snow. The mustang is bad enough

Trans Am's are one of the few cars I don't see around here out in the snow. Those and Corvettes. I see lots of Miatas around, which are a car you'd think you'd keep in the garage for the winter. Any Mustang I've seen has not been doing well...going sideways up the hill and such.

I was planning on selling the coug and buying a 98-02 T/A for the longest time. That plan kind of changed though once I started putting serious amounts of work into my car.

i test drove a T/A WS6 a while back. that thing was nuts. when i pulled onto the interstate, the sales woman was like "go ahead and punch it". i was up to 100 in no time. it made me happy in the pants

Yea thats just how i feel. Theres singular other cars I kinda like, but I'd rather go out of my way and sacrifice to have a ford, thats the bottom line.

Thats b/c they are faster. Trust me i would know. I've walked many mustangs with my T/A. There is a guy in town with a rear mount turbo and drag radials that is just insane.

When i say this i am definitly excluding 03-04 cobras.

had a 99 cobra SVT N/A and i know it would have smoked all the white trash TA and camaros in the area:disgust: ...........the hell with GM, The supercharged 6 spd SVTs are insane...

I assume your SVT was not stock. B/C stock they are slower in the quarter by about half a second compared to a 01-02 WS6 or SS.

I suppose i better make sure to mention i am not talking about the 03-04 cobras. They are just sick. :bowdown:

Yeah I love stangs... but if you go by price I would go for Ford stuff. The Mustang is your best bang for your buck performance wise right? Arnt Cobras around the same as a T/A? ..not sure myself.

cobras and T/As are close in a few things HP, rear end gear ratio and weight.

but T/As have a couple advantages about 30-35 TQ(depends if a WS6) also peak HP and TQ come on about 800 RPM lower for the T/A.

keep in mind between a cobra(non supercharged) and a T/A it is still a drivers race but the T/A does have a bit of an advantage.

Yeah, when number are that close its definatly a drivers race. Just like a Ford Gt, Corvette Z06, and Viper, all '06 of course.
