I've been having the biggest nightnare of a few days trying to get a goodnights sleep.
Its like as if i sleep for hours,but only a few minutes pass. (edit for typo's!)

That, and Ive noticed a real shortness of breath) I thought it was all stress and exhaustion from traveleing/paryting etc... but last Friday, my mom and I were up at the same time in the morning - at the house, and otp' for me to come into work with her and stuff. cool - while there (she works at a hospital) we stop by the pulminory department... and long story short, - remember what happened with Christina and Dan? *b00m* - ssounds like the same freakin' deal.

My numbers were around 73-84... heh, I typically run low anyway, but yeah... those air/fuel numbers were veeeeery low!


Anyway, just incase i don't post much in the next few days - thats why... because I really want to make sure i'm healthy for Cougarfest!

goodness gracious... yeah , i just re-read my mypost... I could barely understand somethings.

Good thing though, is that I'm not pregnant! hee, so I hopefuly wont have as much to worry about as you and Chirs there Dan :)

and for real... i've got a doctors checkup on Wednesday, and I fully intend to "be healthy" for Cougarfest... I will really need to take it easy and relax!

Just to give you all an update, Matt was admitted to the ICU yesterday and low and behold his post came true (and I stuck to my promise of calling to find out how he's doing). I kept his original post up top because it might be his last post for a little while. Matt was admitted to the ICU with Phenomia and extreme shortness of breath. Much like Christine, he is being monitored for low o2 levels and is on I.V. and oxygen, only the tube is down his throat so he cannot speak. His mom says he is VERY weak and barely stays awake right now.

To keep us all in the loop Matt's mom is going to be e-mailing me updates daily and I'll be calling to check in with her. She wanted everyone to know that they are hoping that he'll be all set for fest and want him to be better.

Also, Matt's mom informed me that she wants to do something with the Ohio shirts, but didn't know what the status of payment was, so if someone can please let me know I'd appreciate it. Also, Sami (COOGAH) I'm assuming, she told me that she will be picking up your shirts this week and will be sorting things out with them next week.

I'll also be passing on messages from this thread as they are posted for Matt's mom to print out and take to the hospital with her to read to Matt.

So I'll be starting by saying best of luck to you little buddy....I know you'll come through and be back with us soon!

I've had the pnemonia stuff before, it ain't fun. Had to spend over a week in the hospital when I was 10 because I had a bad case of it, it really can kick your ass. It took almost a month for me to get back to full strength after I got out. Its tough stuff, just keep on the antibiotics and it should clear up soon.

Sorry guys, I was off work all day yesterday and my internet access was acting funny. Here is the most recent update:

"Here is the update on Matt. He is still in the Intensive Care Unit, on a ventilator, but is only being assisted when needed. So he is breathing on his own now. He was sitting up, for 2 hours today, in a chair and was exhausted after being put back to bed and slept the rest of the day. There was a hope that he would have the ventilator tube removed by tonight but the lung function test showed that the lungs are still weak, so they are going to keep him ventilated for a day or two more and then try to wean him off again. The verdict is viral pneumonia with complications. I have told him that everyone is wishing him a speady recovery. If anyone wants to send greetings, they could put it on the forum and I can print them out each morning and bring them in to him. I work down the hall from the ICU, so I am fortunate to be able to be with him for most of the day. Take care and I will update his progress tomorrow night.

i am in the same boat as you man....been havin some seriously wierd ticker problems myself...been in the hospital twice now for Atrial fibrillation...(not fun at all) and just two weeks ago at the Toronto Zoo, i passed out while eating lunch with the wifey and my daughter...when they got me to the hospital my ticker was runnin at 40 beats per minute...a tad slow even for me...they figure it dropeped into the thirties which made me pass out..

LOL the kicker for me is i have done all the blood work and all the tests...everything came back super normal...lucky me..they say they will just have to wait until it happens again...

I hope your luck is better then mine...

"Just got home. Matt is holding his own, still on the ventilator, but with less oxygen support than yesterday. His pulmonary function tests were not that great so they have decided to keep him on the ventilator for another day or 2. They have however, lightened his sedation and he is more awake. He can write questions and answers on paper (he can not talk because of the tubes down his throat). I am sure you can appreciate how VERY frustrating this is for him. He is still sleeping alot but this can only help in his recovery. His dad comes in twice a day and I am there most of the time (they kick me out every once in a while when they have to do things to him). That is OK. He is tolerating this quite well but I think, once he can talk again, I will find out how he really feels. Anyways, I have promised him Baskins & Robbins ice cream once he gets moved up to the regular nursing floor and is able to eat again. Other than that he is improvingslowly but surely. Thank you for your kind wishes for his speedy recovery"

Tonights update:

"It has been an eventful day. Matt had 2 good test results for his lung functions and even though his blood gas numbers were still a little high, they decided to take him off the ventilator. He is still on oxygen and tonight he will be put on a Bi-Pap machine to ensure that he does not have any spells where he stops breathing. (This machine forces air into the lungs every time he breathes.) He was quite relieved to get the tube out but a little disappointed that he could not go home right away. He will be in ICU for about 2 more days and then go up to the observation unit until they clear him to go home. I printed out the postings for Matt and he enjoyed reading them all. This means a great deal to him and I thank everyone who has sent a message. I will keep checking each morning for new ones and pass these on to Matt. That is it for now. Take Care...Wendy"

Sorry for not posting lately guys, Can-am was yesterday and Saturday I was insanely busy. Here are the updates on Matt recieved from Friday to today...

"Well, Matt finally got transferred out of ICU last night (Saturday) at 23:30hrs. He is now on a nursing floor and will be there for 3 or 4 days and then hopefully come home. Now that he is on the floor he will be able to come down to my lab and send an e-mail to everyone on the forum (probably this afternoon). Anyways, Dan, thankyou for keeping in touch with me and forwarding my messages to everyone. I know it meant alot to Matt that everyone wished him well. Take care and have a great day.....Wendy"

I think about everything and everyone, and tears start to fill my eyes because I can't believe that so many people feel I am worthy of such love... The whole experience has certainly impacted what is important to me...
