Hey guys, ive been reading some on the forums and all. I just received a 99' cougar for my graduation present. Now with the money i got and will be receiving i want to get some performance mods. If possible i would like some suggestions what you would be doing first? thanks a lot

CAI is a good place to start ... mild performance and MPG gains from it. After that depending on money you have left.... Headers, exaust, extrude hone your UIM, larger TB, ...

Hey, welcome to NECO! For all your performance needs, do SEARCHes in whichever section you're curious about. Engine mods, look in the "2.5 Performance" section.

For intakes, check in with a member here by the screenname of "GrandMasterKhan". He makes custom CAI's for the Cougar's in his spare time. Its not his "main job" so it may take a little longer to get the product to you, but its the best quality intake you can get. Creative Compacts sells CAI's as well, but they're just a ripoff of GMK's original design. GMK has since improved the design of his intakes by a bunch. CC.com also hasn't been updating their "online catalog" at all lately, so they're selling things that are out of stock or out of production.

Check out your local chapter, get to a meet, and meet fellow NECO'ers. We can be your best friends here, but don't burn your bridges either. Use the "SEARCH" function before you ask a question, do your research, and get to know everyone here and you'll be fine.

For speed:
Cold Air Intake + Complete Exhaust (Headers/gutted pre-cats,highflow-y, testpipe 'removes main cat', 2.5 all the way back) + SVT Upgrades

weight reduction also helps here as well

For Handling:
Front and rear sway bars, better brakes (wilwood or baer), better tires (many options)

WELCOME!!

An upgraded front sway bar is not needed for our car, just the rear

I say slap some lowering springs on and some nice rims...then the exhaust (non-fart-can type)...then head under the hood and get some SVT parts
