I also posted this in General.. =P

I left my car parked next to the driveway for an hour.. come back.. Dashboard is busted up, Pioneer headunit stolen, and molded LCD screen was ripped out.. Police came, took prints, pictures, and said there's not much to do except contact my insurance. They can't really match prints unless they have a suspect, and even then, it's circumstantial because he could only find liftable prints on the outside of the car.

The dash and center console was TORN UP.. I had the stereo put into the center console, and the only way to take it out was from behind, so they just broke the console. Dashboard was torn up to get to the molded in LCD Screen.. Luckily I didn't put in my PS2 and XM yet.. Those were the only 2 things of value in the car, and all that was stolen. Musta thought I had a sound system in the back, cuz they pulled up the Spare Tire cover as well.

My girlfriend asked me as we were leaving the car, "did you lock the doors?" to which I said yes.. but in retrospect, I don't remember locking it.. There were no forcible signs of entry.

UPSIDE is I get a brand new center console! Forget the cup spiller, time to upgrade! I'm just hoping the insurance company takes care of the stereo and LCD since they weren't stock items.

Did they break into your car in front of a house? That is a little daring I would think. Have you parked there before? I am very sorry!!

My brother's discman from his car was stolen a few years ago. The funny thing is they stole the stereo but not the $10 that was in the cup holder.

our house got broken into twice...the second time they came with a moving van:mad:

and its soo easy to break into a cougar...i left my keys in my car once and i had to pay a guy to open it up and he did it in like 60 seconds ( no pun on movie)

That sucks man, I'm sorry to hear that. I think its time for me to get my alarm system up and running since I'm gonna be moving to a part of town that, while its not ghetto, is a nightlife-centric place, and I don't have private parking.

Ya, they did it within 25 feet of my front door.. My window was open. If I wasn't watching TV so loud, I probably woulda heard it.

oh god, I would NOT park that thing on the street... I dont think an alarm will make much of a difference... not to mention all the bumper thumps and dings your going to take.

Its a private lot thats pretty well patrolled by the cops . . . sadly, a garage isn't an option, at all. :(

The most they could get out of me is my Pioneer Headunit. It's pretty expensive seeing as I picked up the best one Best Buy would sell me when I worked there. (70% off it or something nuts.) Oh, and my massive case of CDs, but who wants a bunch of 80's hair metal and 70's rock. Thieves only listen to Ice Cube.

Really sucks they screwed all that up IN YOUR DRIVEWAY. :banghead:

Sorry Brian. That sucks.

Insurance should cover your non-stock items as long as you have pictures/receipts to prove you really had them.

I can't believe they did it right in front of your house.
