I got another stupid one. Will an electric water pump and fan shrouwd add horsepower? I was looking through the new jegs magazine and they got some pretty sweet deals on those parts. Has anyone done that before on the escape motor?

yes the engine no longer has to turn the WP then you will free up HP.
However the electric water pump is FAR more trouble than its worth (2-3hp)

I would avoid it at all costs.
Your much better off getting UD pullies for the alt & p/s if you want to free up some accessory hp use.

Yeah, the advantage of the electric WP is not so much the horsepower, but more the ability to keep pumping a good coolant volume even when the engine is just idling - so if you've got a hot, high performance engine it might be worth it from a safety sake. For the Cougar, probably not.

well one of the CEG guys has been selling sets [check out the older group buy threads or over at CEG]... but I think they are something like 165.
and as cool as I think it would be to have an electric waterpump.... I'd say its pretty risky. I know DemonSVT has posted several times that the pump on BAT Inc's site is garbage.
I;ve worked with alot of pumps for saltwater aquariums, I have been looking into building a kit for myself [including my own controller]... the main reason I've been interested in an electric pump is so I can continue running the coolant through the radiator even after I shut down the car.

Cheap electric w/p = a blower motor and some creative brackets. Throw in a blower resistor and switch for multi-speed control. ($50)
However long term reliability is unknown. It definitely works though.
Like stated the gains are not worth it. Maybe 2-4 HP from a normal to highly modified engine.
