Hello, I did a search, and found a lot of problems with the 99-00 sunroofs. I have a 2001, and the passenger side back end will not close all of the way. It seems like it is just gettting stuck. No funny noises, no uneven movement along the tracks. I have attached a couple of pictures, if anyone can help/give me advice I would like to avoid taking this to the dealership and work on it myself.

This seems to be uncommon in the 2001's and I would like to avoid paying $1800 at all costs. :banghead:

You need to look much deeper and see if there is anything caught in the track, or find out exactly what is broken.

You can try boneyards, but they are hard to come by. I already searched to see if any dealerships were selling the assy at a discount, but nobody is.

I do not have easy access to see what part is getting stuck, is there an easy way to remove the roof and put it back on? How do you take out the inside lining to the roof before you remove it??

Check to see if you need to clean out the tracks. You know, the part that helps the panel slide back and forth.

I looked at the 2 parts of the tracks i can see clearly. The little bracket that is getting stuck (picture) seems to be getting stuck in the tracks at final closing stages. Everything else slides fine, no problems, I just can not very clearly see what is causing the problem. I think I need to take off the roof to have better access to the point that is hanging up. Does anyone know how to do this with relative ease? I also need to know how to take off the cloth pannel on the inside to have better access.

you can take the sunroof of with a torx head i think... then you should be able to see whats going on. my sunroof was compleatly broken so the dealership replaced the whole assembly for like $1000 my sunroof was broken on one side also so you may be out of luck... i would not try to fix it myself unless i knew how to do it and exzactly what the problem was. i tried to and i broke it even more so i had to go to the dealer.

COUGAR SUN ROOFS SUCK JUST AS BAD AS THEIR WHEEL HOP :( !!!!
