Camping?! Damn think all that fresh Oregon air has gotten to ya.

Yea I got an idea: lets all go and camp out at your place and start howling at the moon like a bunch of deranged lunatics and make your neighbors totally believe you have gone bonkers and hang out with a crew that escaped from the loony bin.

Or we could go and camp out at Ford HQ and demand they reinstate the cougar with the chassis of the new mustang. Complete with picket signs, bull horn and groovy 60's style music and clothing.

Those are just my two ideas

yah goldie just tell shawn where ya live HAHAHAHA!
ANYWAYS so I just doing my usual car stuff today and 1 of the things I do like once a year is go type in the names of cars on dictionary sites too see what exactely they mean! (for example corvette's come from the name of a super fast ancient warship) Anyways it came upon me that I've never looked up what they say about cougars (because I know what a cougar is, but you'd be suprised at what the dictionary says sometimes...)
and so yah I'm reading reading reading and all of a sudden I see a city name and it says Cougar, WA, so I hop over to google type in Cougar, WA and well theres some campground right in cougar washington which is about 10 miles away from mt. st. helen! so maybe we should go camp in cougar washington and take a day trip to mt. st. helens while were at it! It's right on yale lake if anyone knows where that is!

Sorry, there are no open dates this year for me. I'm in the military, and I'm being deployed to Afghanistan. I'll be back about a year from now. I plan on checking in here every now and then while I'm over there.

Like I said, I'll have to wait until next year's campout.

are you part of the large group from the Oregon Guard going to Afghanistan? There was a story on the news yesterday about this being the largest deployment from oregon - and would be for a year.

man I love camping, just depends on timing, I'm buying a jeep YJ soon, so money will be going to that for getting it in 4x4 condition to use while my cougars getting done up in the shop! But for the most part I'll say yes I'm down, just depending on time frames as I won't be able to take much holidays this year as I've already booked a canoe trip for mid august for 2 weeks... ( I know you'll all miss me)

What about a night of camping then a day sky diving?

TacomaCoug
05-31-2006, 11:43 PM
Dude, I wanna go sky diving? So where do you guys go camping anyways? Like is there a place or what?

Goldie
05-31-2006, 11:46 PM
"Cougar", WA was suggested (at base of Mt St Helens) by Snowboarder... but don't know if it'd be warm enough there in June - still has snow right now.

99cougarred
06-01-2006, 12:02 AM
Should find a meduim distance for everyone. And a campsite where you can drink and b a lil loud without getting kicked out. And theres sky diving places all over just got to visit airports and get group rates.

Goldie
06-01-2006, 12:08 AM
maybe something closer around Olympia maybe?

You guys do know about Mt. St. Helens shooting all that stuff out of it right now right? I think that's what I heard. I don't really watch the news but ya, it would really suck to be at the base if something happened? I don't think our Coug's could outrun something like that, but I guess it's worth a shot. But ya, maybe I'm wrong. Plus ya, the weather. I'll be sleeping in my car if we do that and it's cold out...

Goldie
06-01-2006, 01:33 AM
it's been doing that for a year and a half now ;) nearly every week (if not day) there's some kinda steam / ash cloud coming out of it.

There has been an increase of activity but nothing near the level of activity that preceeded the May 18th eruption so I wouldn't be worried about life and limb. The only thing that might happen is a steam explosion that would rain down light ash on our cars and make life fusterating for washing them.

Also the suggested camp site wouldn't be at the base but some distance from it so I am confident in our safety.

As for the distance because some would have to travel down a long ways a more middle camp spot would be good. I know a few places up near where I live that might work. Let me check on those tonight and get back with ya all.

don't know yet, I might already be camping half way up BC at that time and if not I will have just gotten back from camping just up north, so probably not, seen as I'm taking a week and a half off work for that already... and after I get back I would like to stay home for a bit instead of going on another road trip to go camping again haha I need to save more money before then!

what do you all think of camping near Packwood Wa (http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Packwood,+WA&ie=UTF8&ll=46.792538,-122.181702&spn=0.770975,1.809998&om=1) & going to one of the SCCA events? they have ProSolo AutoX the weekend of Aug 5th and a national event (don't recall which it was) the weekend of Aug 12th.
Either as spectators, ride alongs or participants ;) If people are interested, I'll find out more details. A friend of mine races with nearly every weekend, so pass on any questions & I'll get some answers.

How many days for camping? what is pro-solo auto x? what day were you looking at meeting there?

Goldie
06-19-2006, 10:25 PM
pro solo is where there are two auto-x courses set up next to each other that mirror each other... so there are two cars doing the same course at the same time - but one is flipped. if that makes sense at all ;)
