Before i get started, let me take a moment to say that I did use the search before posting but did not find what i am looking for.

With that being said, Does anyone know how to access the stock car alarm horn? Not the horn that honks when you push the steering wheel, but the one that beeps at you when you lock your car (sounds like the Looney Tunes Road Runner), and could it be replaced with a horn that has a more "powerful" sound? A friend and I looked for it, but couldnt find it. It sounds like it might be coming from the passenger side of the car just aft of the front seats, but how would you access that?

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks- Jason

There is one on each side of the car... remove the panels that hide the speakers and youll see it mounted facing the shell... IIRC they are green

I thought there was just one alarm horn, behind the panel with the speaker on passenger side, rear seat. In the same spot on the other side is a control box of some sort?

Either way, do a search for removing the interior panels to replace the rear speakers, and you'll find instructions to remove that panel, it's pretty simple once you know where the fasteners are.

according to the 1999 Ford/Cougar CD it lists a horn for both sides (hence why it sounds the same regardless of the side you are on...

this is a good idea racerX... if its as easy as mounting a new chirper then i might just have to do it and make a how to...

maybe ron can chime in
