Intake, headers and exhaust.
Seriously, you're choking your engine without that stuff.
And get a transmission cooler so your poor slushbox doesn't go kaboom.

what is a good site to order headers? spmotorsports have exausts and intake kits but no headers, or transmision cooler.
Ive only had my cougar for 3 months and i love it but want to mod it to be faster.

Transmission cooler can be found at Summit, do a search for the part number.
Intakes, PM GrandMasterKhan, he's a member on here who builds intakes.
For headers, check the classifieds here and on Contour.org, and you can also look on eBay. Or, for brand new headers, go to www.msdsinc.com.
For exhaust, www.trubendz.com is a GREAT site.

Tranny cooler +++++
Very important.
Seriously.
Don't skimp.
Get a plate-style tranny cooler.
Period.
DONT FORGET THE TRANNY COOLER.
SERIOUSLY.
Replacing the tranny by yourself will cost you about $1k, replacing it at a shop will be $2-3k
You don't want to have to do that.
Get a ****ING TRANNY COOLER AND INSTALL IT WHEN YOU INSTALL THE MOTOR!
Okay?
Good. :)
While you're at it, see if a local tranny shop can rebuild your torque converter with a slightly higher stall, might help with the quarter mile times.

how good is the Injen Air Intake Kit $164.95
http://www.spmotorsports.com/ATCcontour_intakes_injen.html
can any1 link me a site for svt heads
Wade and BBox- I fixed your links. Seriously- You don't know MSDS's web page by now??? :disgust:
As for SVT heads- No point. The only real upgrade you'll get from an SVT Contour is the cams. The heads only have EH primary intakes (or primary and secondaries if 2000MY).
Gameover: Go with the GMK. And your plate style trans cooler is here (http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=BMM%2D70268&N=4294924500+4294839034+115&autoview=sku).
