sand it down using around 220 grit and then go to alot finer around 400, then get that spraypaint made by krylon ( the stuff made specifically for plastic) it says no sanding or priming but you should still sand it to give you the smooth look, then give it a few coats and then even if you want get some clear coat (also in spray can) and put a few coats of that on so that the paint can't flake off or rub off

Id suggest leaving that rippled look.. I painted mine with duplicolor vinyl and fabric paint no clear coat.. but put down a layer of flat blak from krylon....no chipps or scratches for 5 months

just make sure you prep the surface well

ugh... you guys over complicate everything....

I wiped everything down and let it dry and gave mine 5 coats of Krylon Fusion... been cool for over 6 months with ZERO problems

Krylon Fusion? Less than $5.00 per can. Your color selection is limited, however.

Though, they also make a plastic "fusion" primer, which I would think would take care of the plastic bond and you could then use standard paint over that? Maybe?

ive seen that done as well... but that person used the primer to get rid of the textured surface... fusions best selling point is its a no-prep, no-prime paint... course u always want clean parts to paint so there still is a lil prep

you are correct that your selection is limited, but all i ever needed was black and blue ;)
