View Full Version : Odd Problem Need Help...

For some strange reason my while im driving all my guages shut off and its not only my guages like all the indicator lights turn on and off just at random... everything resets the speedo ends up in some wierd position along with the rpm's needle...anyone ever had this happen where do i start???

Is it just the instrument cluster? I.e. no weirdness with the head unit, or other interior lights?
I'd guess check the connections behind the instrument cluster (there are two connectors I believe), and the wiring harness behind the cluster for loose connections, etc. Sounds like it's losing signal or losing ground, or something.

If its just the dash cowel then maybe a loose connection.
or your alt is dying!

yeah just the cluster and the indicator lights overhead....Is that a sign that the alt is going too???

Could be the Alt. Have you had any dimming problems as well? If you run 1st 2nd and 3rd up to the redline look for the battery light to come on, that is another sign it's the alt.

Doesn't sound like an alternator issue to me at all. What with the needles going all weird. The alt just kills it all immediately. ZERO.

ever check the fuse? i doubt it if your overhead lights still work, but ya never know ...

If it was your alt and your gauges AND radio died i would say its the alt... if its just the gauges its a connection to them.

Yeah, doesn't sound like alternator. If the needles swept and reset, maybe, but not from your description George.

i had exact same problem. 2 days later my alt died. could be a sign. could just be a coincidence. i dont kno.

happened to me once.... lost charge do you road water and belt slippage on the alt...
