This morning I was on my way to work. Before getting on the freeway some person that was half asleep was creeping up to the freeway entrance ramp so I went around him on the carpool ramp. It's very early so the ramp lights aren't on yet. I go around him pretty quick. Get on the free way and continue going fairly fast (upper 70's). I catch up to traffic fairly quick and then get back to mid 60's where everyone else is going and a cop flys up from behind. I get over and he gives me a ticket for going 85 and says that I was going closer to 90 the first time he clocked me. I'm 100% sure that I didn't get over 80 as I looked at the speedo before I saw the cop and started slowing down. I also know that my speedo says that I'm going faster than I am by about 3-5mph so I really wasn't going over 74-77. Is there any reason to try and fight a speed discrepency when it is his word over mine or should I just pay it? Speed limit is 60 there and that's 24 over. 70 is the average pace for that freeway. I have no problem paying it because it was my fault. Just a crappy morning. It's not a huge deal but I'd rather get nailed for what I was actually doing.

Heres the part that sucks... theres not much you can do other than ask for the gun calibration record, say you KNOW you were speeding but NOT that fast, and (if you did) pulled over immediately and didnt give the guy a hard time
ive only been stopped 3 times for speeding, and since I knew i was speeding and knew i was going to get pulled over im usually already on the side of the road before the car can get out of the trap and onto the road... i have all my credentials in hand and am very polite... everyone got reduced (even the 88 in a 55) to a non-moving... on my last ticket (77 in a 55) i managed to get some business from the cop after the fact fixing his kids' computer
be proactive tho... get an abstract of your license, call the trooper barracks and tell them you want the calibration report... i even brought Deans List certificates to a court appearance once which actually made the judge lower my fine b/c he said i was obviously a good kid that just had a bad day :)
good luck dude

If you ask to see the radar, they're supposed to show it to you, at least in Ohio. I wish I would've known that, I got nailed for the same thing, his word against mine, I got a ticket. My first and only ticket, just because I was an 18yr old kid in a pretty car.

Always fight a speeding ticket it will be reduced unless you had another speeding ticket within 6 months prior.
How about this....
I got the officier to admit his radar was not even on and he said
"You looked you were driving fast and I don't need a radar to tell me that"
O man was I pissed I argued with him for awhile that SOB!
In reality I was doing 70 and he wrote down 85 in a 65.
The Judge dropped it to 75.

Well... in order for a police officer to be ALLOWED to use radar they must pass and "visual" speed test... meaning that they must look at a car and be able to determine its speed by calculating time over distance
if you really wanna piss in his cheerios tell the judge that you want to see his scores for that visual test and want him to take another to be sure his "skills" are up to par
