I know this isn't the contour forums but they do share the same engine's and my cousin just bought a contour for $100 and it is having a few problems.

Car specs: 95 Contour 2.0 MTX 100,000 miles.

Problem:

The car would start and run fine for the guy he bought it from then all of a sudden it shut off and now it wouldn't start so he sold it. It will crank over great and he is getting power to the coil but none to the plugs. He has tried 2 used coils and one brand new one same results with all of them, he has also tried a different ignition control module, this thing just doesnt want to start.

So has anyone had this problem?

Is there a ground cable for the coil?

Also if the crank sensor or cam sensor were bad would it cause the car not to start, as in no signal to the computer no spark?

And dont tell me to go to a dealer they are the ones who told him it was the coil and they put the new one on it and it still didnt start and all they had to say was "Oh **** that should have fixed it sorry we dont know what to tell you"

Thanks in advanced fo the help
Justin

I had the same problem with my other car, Come to find out I thought it was my Ignition Coil but instead it was my MAF sensor not working properly. The car would turn over but wouldn't start also. Check into it.
Theres my 2 cents of knowledge. Good luck.

if hes getting power to the coil but not power to the plugs then it must be plugs themselves or plug wires. Car will start fine with MAF unplugged btw.

Nah plugs and wires were replaced.

A bad cam position sensor would also cause no spark.

I would say crank trigger, or timing belt?

You are correct sir. Broken timing belts will still turn, just not over.
