I plan on removing my upper intake manifold soon and cleaning it. I just wondered if there is a how-to on this preferrably with pics. Also, for those that have done this...what would you recommend me doing while the UIM is off? What will I need? And how should I go about cleaning it properly?
I have a 1999 Cougar V6 MTX

Everything you need is in there. Good luck.

i did mine over the winter.... 7 hours later nice and clean...
only things that were "tricky"
-removing EGR bolts (one rounded and broke a socket)
-disconnecting the fuel rail from the supply line (gotta pull it off wierd)
-re-seating the injectors (make SURE they are seated properly and check the tiny o-rings)
the rest is all time working with brushes and a drill with a wheel brush
make sure u have the proper tq wrench

Theres a tool that you use to disconnect the fuel rail to the fuel lines. :)
