Ok this is on the explorer not the cougar. I am in the process of replacing the coolant bypass hose that burst on me yesterday and two of the bolts that hold the thermostat housing to the block busted when putting it back in yesterday. Now it is all back apart and I am trying to get these ****ers out of the block (probably cross threaded it seems). I have about 3/16- 1/4 inch on one bolt sticcking up and a little more on the other. I am going to go soak them both with some lube and see if it helps (probably won't) but any other ideas before I try to take a cut off tool too them and then drill them out and tap them? the only thin I hae to try to remove them is some vise grips, they fit in there and get a fair grip on the shaft but still can't get either to budge. I wish i could find my othe vise grips that have a straight jaw but i think my roommate stole them or has them somewhere. other ideas on how to get these ****ers loose? I am pretty much stuck trying to nurse the cougar along for the next few days till i get these out (replacement bolts come in in the morning) Hopefully it doesn't blow up completely while I have to drive it.

too bad you can't bring it over tonight I would fix it here for you. I would just weld a nut on top of the broken part. What size bolts do you need mang?

I can bring you by a set of vise grips and my tap and die set.
