Right gents. Crunch time.
CLOSING DATE MIDNIGHT SUNDAY 3RD JUNE FOR $750 DEPOSIT
We need to get 10 people to buy the complete kit for this group buy to take place. If we get 10 people that want the whole kit (this includes both upper and lower spoiler), the price will only be $1850 !!!
Once we have the confirmed 10 kits, we will then get an exact quote on shipping them over. At the moment it looks like to hire a container and ship them over by boat would cost you lot maybe an extra $50 each (Shipping divided between all of you). The downside of this being it will take about 6 weeks to reach your shores. However, the differance in price compared to air freight is HUGE!
The shipping of the kits from the central depot to you all individualy will be dealt with once the kits are over there so I cannot tell you how much the shipping would be. I'm sure someone who has bought a very large kit from America and had it shipped to them will be able to give us all an idea of cost??
Can you confirm that there wont be any import taxes etc also please??
Also, due to the very large shipment, I am checking that GrandmasterKhan is still going to be OK in receiving the kits and then shipping them out from over there. The kits will all be boxed and labelled up to make life easier for GMK.
For all the people that only want spoilers, the price is $200 each. The upper spoiler DOES include a rear LED brake light. This includes a couple of dollars towards the shipping of the container (so the costs are split amongst everyone to be fair. Smaller Items paying smaller % of the overall shipping cost)
So far we have:
Complete Kit: 5 (numbers going down not up !! )
BigBalledOx
Bensenvill
Predator
S.BOOGIE2468
RyanW1
Upper spoiler: 5
Wadespencer99
YOSLVR442
LostRacer
Azbobbybooshay10
Nitrik
Lower Spoiler: 3
BasSpyder420
Azbobbybooshay10
Nitrik
Now you know the prices, can you please confirm if your name is to remain on the list or not. Deposits will need to be taken and then the final payment once they have been shipped.
For piccies and more info, please read this thread here: http://newcougar.org/forums/showthread.php?p=995664#post995664
Please also use that thread for questions etc, and only this thread to add/remove your name.

Yes, I am still on the list for the upper spoiler, but is it really going to be that long getting it?
Um....how much for the spoiler plus shipping if I just buy it straight out without the group buy?
bensenvill
05-05-2006, 09:03 AM
please give us an idea of the timeframe you are looking for for payment on the full kits. That will be the entire determining factor on weither I get the full kit or just the spoilers.

Good points.
Ok, shipping of the spoilers by air freight is no problem. They will enquire as to aproximate costs.
With regards to the kits, because they don't want to rush the process and thus make sure all kits are of 100% quality, they are working on the timescale of 1 week per kit. This means you wont have any "warped" kits etc.
Deposits of $750 will be required before the end of the group buy, and then the remaining wont need to be paid until the kits have shipped which will be about 2.5 months away. Plenty of time to save, beg and borrow.
Preffered payment is PayPal which also protects you guys as well (for any doubters out there).
If they need to make more kits for the group buy (as in 20+) then it would be worth their while making duplicate moulds and thus speeding up the process. However, for "only" 10 kits, it's not financialy worth their while.
If it's OK with you guys and purely because there needs to be an end date for the group buy, how does Midnight Sunday 14th sound, or would people like it brought forward?

You can take my name off that list. I can afford the kit, but I just can't afford to have it painted, installed, etc.

I want the upper and lower spoilers bad, but what is the price for those OUTSIDE the GB? I'm afraid one month is pushing it for me, so I probably need to be taken off the list for the GB. However, I hope to pick them up in the future as soon as funds become available.

We are now down to 7 for the bodykits
I'm working on getting some better pics of the upper spoiler, inc the brake light on. Will post them ASAP.
If you want the kit outside of the group buy, you can purchase it at anytime from ebay.co.uk
Normal price for the spoilers will be $250 upper and $250 lower
I'll post up details of where to PayPal the money at the end of the group buy.
They are in the process of making another S bodykit (They liked it so much, they have bought their own Cougar), so they will weigh it and get dimensions so we can find out the size and weight of the box, per kit. Hope that makes sense.
ummmmm...I think that is all the questions answered :)
wadespencer99
05-08-2006, 06:06 PM
I have some more questions on the spoiler...are they being shipped over here in the same container as the kits?
If so (or even if not) what happens if only two people end up taking the kit? Will other arrangements have to be made for the spoiler shipping?
It sucks, but it's a common fact, many people say they want something and never worry about whether they'll have to money to buy it when go time comes. Wanting it, and being ready to buy it, are two totally opposite things.
Do we pay for the spoilers by June 3rd as well?

Hi everyone.
It does indeed look like most people are all mouth and no trousers as we say over here, but the end date isn't for a few more weeks so lets see what (if anything) can be pulled out of the bag.
Another kit is currently coming out of the moulds soon. They will then get box size measurements and weights. These I can then pass onto GMK (who will be doing all the shipping from within the states). He will then be able to get quotes for you all, for the last part of the shipping.
A couple more spoilers are also being made. Again to get box sizes and weights etc, so we can work out the exact shipping for the people that just want the spoilers.
My car is currently being finished off (Custom boot install, Interior being leathered etc). Hope to be finished by the end of the month. More piccies will come out then. As for box sizes etc, I will let you all know the moment I find out.
Cheers everyone.

Seeing as someone ran a poll in "Exterior Cosmetics" and 59 people voted that they would buy the kit no matter what the cost........ and then a further 138 people said the might depending on the cost....... 6 confirmed buyers is rather lack lustre to say the least. Just shows 95% of people are all mouth and no trousers :disgust:

Right, Jamie at the body shop (Twisted Vision) has decided that even though only 6 of you are man enough (JOKE!) to put your money where your mouth is, he will still keep the original price of the kit for you.
Therefore, the people that are buying the kit, just need to drop an email to Jamie (Or Steve) direct at TwistedVision@btconnect.com and deal direct with them.
Once I do get a shipping price though, I will post it up here for other people that might be interested.
For those that just want spoilers, you also need to just send a mail direct to them. Please put "NECO" in your email title though, so they know to offer you the group buy price and not the full normal price.
Again, once I get the shipping for the spoilers I will post the price up here for any possible future buyers.
Hope all that makes sense. Any further questions, please mail Jamie or Steve direct on the above email address (TwistedVision@btconnect.com)
Cheers guys and Predator, I'm looking forward to seeing the first Cougar S kit fitted on American shores ! ;)

Hi John
Sorry for the delay in answering your email. We have had a couple of emails now asking us where to send the money to. We thought that all the kits were being bought on a group buy basis, can you clear this up for us. We need to work out what the freight will be sending all the kits out together, if we send them out individually the freight will be quite allot of money.
All we need is the details of the person that is organizing the group buy.
If you need anymore details please drop us a line.
Many Thanks

Hi there,
Right. Been on the phone and sorted out ALL the confusion. Sorry about this.
Basically, what was decided is the following:
The payments will be made individualy to Twisted Vision
The kits will be made at the rate of approx 1 complete kit per week. Therefore, 6 people are interested so far*, means 6 weeks till shipment.
Container will be shipped to GMK who will then ship the boxes out to the individual people. The shipping for this final part will need to be paid for and sorted out between yourselves and GMK.
*
BigBalledOx
Bensenvill
Predator
S.BOOGIE2468
EricF
RyanW1
The size and weight for the complete kit box, is 104" x 28" x 34" and will weigh approx 45 kilos
I am about to send this info to GMK so he can start getting shipping quotes from his place to all your address's.
The shipping quote for getting the actual kits to your shores will be known in the next 1 - 2 days. Once we have this, we can then divide it by 6 and give you your total inclusive price. This means the price for the complete kit and shipping to the States. NOT the shiping from GMK to yourselves. Therefore, please DON'T pay any money yet. Twisted Vision want you all to know the complete cost (from our end) before you pay any monies.
I hope that makes sense. If anyone else can think of an easier way, please feel free to speak up
So, let us get the shipping quote and then the ball can realy start rolling.
Oh, and btw, the kits are still being made as we speak so this isn't causing any delays :)

Are the spoilers being done the same way?
Sorry if I missed it somewhere....I would like just the upper spoiler. Can I get some details?
How much do I pay to Twisted Vision including shipping to the U.S.?
Does it then come directly to me, or to GMK to ship out to me?
Thanks...sorry if I'm confused.

No worries mate. I prob could have worded some of my mails better etc
With regards to spoilers, these can be bought direct by emailing Twisted Vision Direct
Prices are $200 each, plus shipping which they will advise you at the time of placing your order.
Just email them, explain you are from NECO (thus get the cheaper price), and give them your postal address. They will then mail you back with an all inclusive price.
Hope that's clear enough
Email addy is: TwistedVision@btconnect.com
I've even just started a new group buy thread for spoilers only. If I could remove the "Spoilers" word from the title of this thread I would. Again, sorry for any confusion I have caused you guys.

bensenvill
06-13-2006, 02:19 PM
Ken's in NC, thats why I picked NC as the shipping location.
the logistics of WHY its being shipped to Ken make no sense... because as soon as its offloaded from the ship, its truck bound [otherwise known as LTL, less-than-truckload shipping], which is by far the cheapest portion of its journey, and the portion that you want to maximize the distance traveled... it makes no economic sense to truck it to ken when he's a few hours from the coast and then parcel them individually further into the states, its probably going to add 200 to everyones shipping cost.

When this was discussed months ago, it was decided that it would be best to ship all the kits to a central point in America, and then ship them from there.
Everyone agreed, so I then asked for someone to volunteer to be the central point. Only one person bothered and that was Mr GMK. Hence the kits being sent there.
Now I know nothing about shipping so I am very interested in any other "cheaper for you guys" ways of getting you the kits. Is it possible to ship the kits via container (which is what we are doing), then get the container opened at the port it arrives and the seperate boxes shipped off to the individual address's????
As I said, if you lot can come up with a better idea, just let me know and we'll do it. You guys are the customer so we will do whatever you want. :)

ahhh, well I'd be more than happy to help organize the shipping [suppositely this is what I do for a living anyways]. but I guess it depends where everyone else is that will require shipping [I'm in chicago which is about as central as you get].
so I looked deeper into the over-sized package issue from yesterday... so, yaaa, the box is simply too big for anyone other than fedex to deal with it. Everyone here is telling me that this really needs to be sent LTL rather than parcel so I'll start looking into getting truck rates.

Anyhow, I'm still waiting for people to advise what to do. Cheapest quote we can get to ship 6 kits to GMK is £890 which is approx $1,650
Divided by 6 you are looking at $275 each plus the cost of shipping to get them from GMK's house to your own.

How many kits are we talking about ... total weight? PROPERLY packaged for a cross sea faring ... what would be the deminisions of the crate?

Would it still be possible to get in on this deal?

Paul, I've emailed Twisted Vision and can't seem to get a response from them...I need to know how much to pay them to get the upper S spoiler sent to me here in the states. Can you bump them a little bit for me next time you talk to them? I'd appreciate it!

Feel free to PM me if you are still having any issues.

Found out that there WILL be taxes/duties to import. The only countries that we as American's don't pay duties on are from Canada and Mexico thanks to NAFTA. Not sure on the shipping cost yet. I need to know a few things first:
1) IF ALL THE kits where boxed individually AND then crated as one group, how big would the crate be? I don't feel like boxing kits after opening the crate.
2) Where exactly will these be picked up ... where is the manufacturer?

If you guys would like, I can ask my father about this- he's the VP of a logistics/shipping company that does global logistics. Give me further details (Container size, size of individual boxes that will be "parted" at the port and then shipped out individually, etc), and I'll see what I can do? I can't really promise anything, as I don't know what he can do. :)

I'll get the size of the individual boxes but yes, the idea was to box them all up seperatley (sp) so that once the container is opened over there, the individual boxes can just be mailed off to wherever they need to go.
As for their address over here, it is:
Twisted Vision
Unit 4
Key Lane Industrial Estate
Hard Way
Gosport
Hants
PO12 4LJ
U.K.
Hope that helps.

With regards to the info you requested, the boxes will be 104" x 28" x 34" and weigh about 45 kilos.

I'm just wondering, have the kits actually been made yet?

The kits are being made as we speak.
They have already fitted one kit to another Cougar in the UK.
They have an order for another kit in Spain.
They have sold quite a few spoilers both here and a couple in the USA.
Twisted intend to get all the kits made and boxed up and ready to go by the end of September. However, of the 6 people that have shown an interest, only 3 have emailed Twisted Vision.
I am assuming the other 3 were waiting for final details of the shipping. However, we have supplied the best quote we can get for getting the kits to a dock in America, we are now just waiting for someone to help you lot out with regards to collecting and distributing from your side of the pond.
So, any news on this fellas??

I have a buddy in Spain I'm trying to go through for this on my end. I also have a huge move coming up and I need to buy a house... so right now all my money is going into my savings account for any unexpected costs and what not ;)

well my car was in a bit of an accident the other week and goes in for body work and paint on tuesday. I was originally holding out on a repaint until I could get the S kit. I cant say I'm very keen on paying out twice to paint my car.
I am having the car prepped to take the upper/lower spoiler and will be contacting them about that.
but as of right now, I'm very sketchy about getting the full kit.

Predator.
Are you going through CTC, who in turn is going through me? I only want to clarify because as far as Twisted Vision are concerned, they will make 6 kits for you US guys and an extra one for this guy in Spain. 7 in total. However, if the one in Spain is in fact for you, then I need to tell them to only make 6 kits in total.
Cheers
