what all did you order? before I went to their website, I was thinking I 'needed' the two products that were in the test... then I start looking around and find other things I 'need', and pretty soon, the $80 kit sounds pretty good

That test is all sorts of wrong.
To further explain what is wrong...
In section one they use two polishes, which removes the swirl marks on the hood but with out a wax the is paint exposed.
In section two they used gold class wax which is only meant to seal and protect the paint from damage by sacrificing itself (ex. bird poo.)
In section three they used a paint cleaner with removes industrial fall out from the paint, or bonded contaminants (ex. rust spot in white cars paint) They then used a wax which as covered above only protect doesnt shine or remove swirls like a polish would.
In section for they left it blank enough said.
In section five they used a paint polish which reduced the swirls but let it unprotected with out a wax or sealent.
The brand isnt everything nor is the price as should even by this guys opinion of $144 wax used inproperly with bad results.

To top that off, they used the Zymol NSX Glaze, which doesn't have a very good formula:
Contains Carnauba Sap 21%, #1 Yellow Carnauba 22%, Shea Nut Butter, Coconut Oil, Cetyl Esters, Cetyl Cocomide (derived from coconut oil), Propolis (derived from Bees) and Glycerl Stearate and FDC Yellow #5.
There is NO WHITE CARNAUBA in that, and to top that off, it's meant as a glaze, not a wax.
To put that into perspective, look at the only slightly more expensive ($164) Zymol Concours wax:
Contains White and Yellow Carnauba Wax, 47% by volume (90%White, 10% Yellow), Montan Oil, Coconut Oil, Banana Oil, Cinnamon Oil, Propolis (derived from Bees), Cetyl Esters, Cetyl Cocoamide (derived from coconut oil) and FD&C Yellow #5.
Twice as much Carnauba wax, 90% of it white.

The Zaino product he used is just a polish so obviously it will be much shinier and look better, but lack protection.
The best wax I used so far was Turtle Wax Platinum Series.

Even I will say that test isn't really fair.
I use Meguiars products. I perform a 3 step method after a clay using:
Professional series:
1. Cleaner wax
2. Hi-tech yellow wax
3. Show Car glaze
All in that order. Granted it takes all day but the results are phenominal. Then I normally maintain it using Show Car glaze and Quick Detail/Quick Wax. Sometimes I'll go back and do 2 and 3 at the same time.
In all honesty it's up to you. I'd say any car care brands are about the same. It's like choosing a brand of oil for your car. Some swear by certain brands, others by other brands.

I want to know who is buying wax for $140 that's not a very good formula!

Yeah I also agree that different brands can perform equally well. But its all about how you utilize the products. I started out using Meguiars Nxt car wash then learned more and added on to my supply of products all having different applications.
Its not so much which brand as it is how you use the products and when you use them.

I have heard that is very hard to buff off, and that it lacks water sheeting ability, and kind of reduces the gloss of the paint. And it expensive $16 a pop. Buy some Meguiars gold class wax for less then the ICE stuff Im sure that many people would recommend it from here. Or a step up from there you could try would be Meguiars NXT tech wax.
Can you tell I like meguiars? The benifit they have is they are available at your local auto supply, Zaino is mail order isnt it?

Zaino is the best I've ever used... :)
and as far as giving Meguiars a try -- I've been sponsored by them for 2 years now and get a full size bottle of their ENTIRE line for free every year... I've tried it all and yes, it does work and there are a few Meguiars products that I swear by but they are all wheel or interior products.. I only trust my exterior to Zaino, everytime I use it on the Cougar it looks like I just took it to the shop to get buffed...
Everytime I put in an order for some more Zaino I am always sent a free gift... Granted I normally buy a few bottles but it lasts very long.. I can wax the Coug with Z2 4 times on 1 ounce..
BTW -- they offer group discounts I believe... there used to be a CEG discount that either gave you a % off or upgraded your sizing...

I got some of the Zaino to try out (1, 2 & 6) and clay bar'd then did two layers of 2 & 6. in the past I'd been using the three step Meguiars (which I like). I think the Zaino is easier (quicker) and gives a similar glossy look - but doesn't get rid of the tiny scratches like Meguairs does. Guess ya got to get their swirl remover for that. It looks good - but don't think it's any better than the other polishes/waxes I've used after running clay bar over it. maybe on a darker color it would make more of a difference.

Scratches? Swirl marks?
Why do you people have these in your paint in the first place?
Handwash your car, FOR LIFE, and you'll be fine, so long as you always use microfiber towels/sponges. :)
My clearcoat has no swirlmarks whatsoever, and I have never polished the paint.

Please remember that according to the user agreement, attempting to bypass the swearword filter is against the rules. I'll let it slide this time. :)

my car doesn't go thru the carwash. and the tiny scratchs are only on the sides - so assume are from jackasses in parking lots brushing up against my car with their bags or clothes.

after reading this i ordered some zaino products to replace my meguiar lineup. I was very satisfied with the zaino stuff. the finish is much glossier and a deeper black. looks like ill be sticking with zaino from now on.

My brother told me someone he knows that is really really picky about his car uses the blue Zymol that you can get at Walmart. That's what I use..never gave me any problems. I use Mothers clay w/ Zymol and it's so smooth once I'm done. It's a beautiful thing.

That stuff is OK, but not all that great.
You want real wax.
REAL wax.
REAL CARNAUBA WAX. The kind that was meant to be applied by hand- nay, massaged into the beautifully painted skin of your car, not used with an applicator, but with your BARE HANDS.
But that's just me, I'm picky.

Just saw this thread....Zaino is a great product...I just ordered the complete kit (5 bottles of different product, 2 pads, hardner, 2 clay bars) and it was $147 Canadian....and have it sitting in my room awaiting usage.
The guy who sells it here does his Impala once a year....after 160K WITH a bra on (the car is dark purple) there is NO discoloration and the car feels softer than most of the stuffed animals you can buy for newborns.....
For the price and availability, I've always sworn by using Meguiar's Show Car Quality or whatever Polish and Wax. I find it amazing. However, I have a white car so I can wax the thing with pig fat and it'll probably look good.
I have swirl marks, I can't avoid them and I'm not paranoid enough to care. It's white, I can't see them. :)
After cleaning my sister's black Grand Am I will never own any car color but white if I can help it.
I was woundering if some one could tell me a great Meguiars line up to make my black cougar shine like theres notomarrow, I use it as more of a night car, but like it to shine durning the day as well
Professional series:
1. Cleaner wax
2. Hi-tech yellow wax
3. Show Car glaze
was said for after the clay, but as far as Meguiars I dont know what rly good quality washing products are from them only the wax
