Okay, so as most of you might have read in one of my previous posts, my entire system was stolen out of my car. Due to this and my extreme loarge discount through the shop I work at, I have decided to go with an all JL Audio setup for my car. Just wanted some advice on what you think this would sound like. I am looking to get 3 sets of the 6 1/2" ZR series components, one for the doors, one for the back panels, and one set in the trunk on the bottom side of the hatch. Also mounted on the hatch is gonna be a Clarion 10.2" flipdown screen. I am getting a JL 300/4 amp for the interior speakers and a 300/2 amp for the trunk speakers. This amp will be set to a switch so that it only plays at car shows. Then for subs I am looking to get a pair of 13.5" JL W6's and a pair of 500/1 amps to run them. All this will be getting glassed into the trunk. I will be running a BATCAP 800 battery and an Alumapro 5 farad capacitor. Does anyone else know of anything that I might need or can offer any more advice for me?

Ditch the cap... per JL engineers, they DO NOT recommend a cap with ANY of their amps... use that money to buy an aftermarket alternator , and since you are going all JL, personnally I'd get 2 JL dual amp kits (4ga split to 2 8ga, and a 2ga split to 2 4ga)... If you are using the JL installer discount, I know how much you are getting off of the street price(running all JL, including wire, they give you an extra 5%), nice choice on the equipment might i add... 3 sets of ZRs is a bit overkill but thats just my $.02... I guess for the show aspect it'll be sweet... any problems with the install and I'd be more than willing to lend any info I can to help out... good luck and take pictures!

sounds good except as ice said 3 sets of ZR's would probably be too much. I personally do not like rear fill and just have 1 set of components up front. You could always put 1 set up front and then just put some ZR mids in the rear, but IMO 3 sets of tweeters would not sound good at all, especially in a small car like the cougar

The reason I'm using three sets of ZR is because one set is going in the back hatch for when it is open at the shows only. At other times that set will not be playing. I already have JL wires and their blue series of RCA's, not the cheap clear ones. The only reason I'm not getting the two amp kit is cause my second battery is already in the trunk. I'm running 2 gauge from the front to the back, then 4 gauge to the amps. I wasn't aware of that about the cap tho. My alternator is already upgraded and puts out 200 amps at idle. And the whole car is already Dynamatted. I'm a certified installer, so I already knew to cover all the basics. I will keep the ideas in mind tho of only using the ZR mids in the back tho for fill. Hey Ice, what shop do you work at? I know it has to be a JL dealer cause that price info is kinda hush-hush.
