My center console in my 1999 is loose. I have tried to tighten it but i can't figure it out. Any ideas?

thats kinda a problem for everyone, i know mine squeaks alot but ive been in other cougars that do the same

where is it loose? Top, bottom?

I just put a steel shim in the bottom of my armrest last week, and you would not BELIEVE what a huge difference that makes. Just a piece of 1/16" or so, flat metal. I marked where the screw holes were, drilled them out, dropped it into the bottom of the armrest, and cranked it down.
Best mod ever.

ur refering to the compartment ... correct?

you can also take and long metal piece one about the size of a ruler. take and bend it around the under the compartment and screw it down.
