Does anyone know how to play songs using the memory stick player on the Eclipse CD7000?

I called eclipse tech support and they arnt exactly sure how it works. Apparently i MUST buy some Sony memory stick reader/writer which comes with software to get any playable songs onto the memory stick.

Anyone know any other ways?

From Crutchfield:

ATRAC3: This unit can play ATRAC3 music files recorded onto Memory Stick media. Compatible media include MagicGate (MG) Memory Sticks with a capacity of up to 128 MB. Memory Stick Duo must be used with the Memory Stick Duo adapter. Playback functions include Next/Previous track, Fast Forward/Rewind, Intro Scan (first 10 seconds of each track), Track Repeat, and Track Random. Artist names and track titles up to 14 characters can be displayed when recorded on the MG Memory Stick. No Memory Sticks are supplied with the unit. Note: Memory Sticks containing ATRAC3 Plus, MP3 or WMA files are not compatible.

If I'm not mistaken, ATRAC3 is Sony's proprietary music format, something like how iTunes uses a copy protected version of AAC. So it sounds like you need software to convert to ATRAC3, but then the head unit should be able to read the files.

More info about ATRAC3 here. (http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Sony_ATRAC3_Audio_Codec.htm)

Kind of a bummer of a setup. I wonder why they don't want you to be able to read MP3s from the Memory Sticks.

yeah I tried that codec. I also used SoundStage to convert files to ATRAC3 format but it still doesnt work. Eclipse has no idea how i am supposed to setup the file structure....

eclipse tech support is one of the worst ive ever seen.

i really think that they are subcontracting the tech support.

i had to call them like 10 times before i got the answer i needed.

but on your CD7000, i really dont know... let me ask one of my friend who has one. (i have CD8445)
