Hello, I recently bought a 1999 Mercury Cougar v4 2.0 L manual transmission.
I need to install this intake system that I bought off e-bay but I'm having problems.
The intake pipe won't fit in the throtle body.
any suggestions ?

Hi...welcome to NECO.

I don't know much about the 2.0, but I'm assuming a coupler would go in between....

it would be easier to help if we knew how your intake is designed, but ill try to help. youll need the rubber couplers and a angled pipe, then another coupler to attach the elbow shaped peice to the rest of the intake. if youre having trouble stretching the couplers over the pipe or throttle body, you can boil them in water for a minute and it will cause them to be more stretchy. i just stuck them in the microwave for about 30-45 seconds and that did just as good. so itll be setup like this: coupler-->elbow-->coupler-->long pipe-->coupler-->maf-->filter.

first of all i want to say thanks for all of you who replied and helped.
sorry about the pics going bad, here's my car and the intake I bought.
This is my very first time starting to get to know my car and making mods to it.http://i5.ebayimg.com/04/i/06/8c/0e/2b_1.JPG

looks to me that you have a v6 intake. if you install that you would have to cut a hole in your hood, because it would point straight up. anyone else think that its a v6 intake?

dont know if it will fit. if you do make it fit you need some type of 90 degree angle to come off the throttle body, but still because of the shortness of the pipe, it will sit right on top of the engine, soaking up lots of hot air. the best thing to do is get one made for your car. if i can find the 2 long screws that attach the stock air box to the throttle body, ill be selling my weapon-R intake, but only IF i can find those screws or find the name so i can buy more.

Like james said, the intake you purchased is for the V6. You're better to try to resell it and recoup some of your dividends to get one for the 4.
