Hey whats up NJNECO, im a new member, just got the cougar in may of 05 and im starting to add some mods. I've been reading alot of the posts in NJNECO and it seems this place is dead, i live in monmouth county, we have a car meet every thursday night in a town called Ocean. I would be so glad to see some cougar owners show up and put these civics CRXs, and honda accords to rest.

You mean Ocean Township... not a town called ocean ;)

Most of the active people (3 of us)... don't even own cougars anymore, so don't expect to see too many cougars around.

But it's nice to see a new member... year, engine, trans, options, etc of the vehicle?? Any pics...

Well... Welcome aboard... feel free to make a few posts... someone will eventually respond.

Axio is a ford explorer i do believe but thought the cougar was still floating around, unless he finally sold it.

Yeah its a spruce green 99 Cougar V6 ATX :( Got some body damage on the passenger side, fender to quarter panel all banged up. Looking at prices for a *new* quarter panel at the moment. And yes your right pgtatx, its ocean township but everybody calls it "ocean" around here. On a side note, a buddy of mine clocked my 1/4 mile time, and my best out of 4 was 16.00, my next best was 16.04.

Green.. if you want to get that cougar moving faster, there are a few people here in FNJNECO that had some pretty quick cougars.. let us know and we can get you going in the right direction as far as mods.

your limited by the crappy ATX in these cars, but we can get you up to atleast stock MTX quickness.. ;)

ATX V6 cougars can run 1/4 mile times as slow as 18sec...

But Masta is correct... we had some well modded cougars here in NJ, and know the car pretty well. So if you need a hand, just post.

I liked my cougar, but in the end it was my least favorite of the cars I've owned. I always felt it was missing something.

It was still quite fun showing up at car meets and people asking me what the hell I was driving...

I refuse to believe the car is slow, my main rivals are all running 15s and im pretty close. Doesnt the stock V6 MTX Cougar run 16 (give or take a few tenths of a second.) I got a new muffler on the way and im hoping it could bring me down to 15.8. But i am open for suggestions on future performance mods, i got a low budget because im saving up to get all the auto body damage fixed and maybe sign a contract with a sponsor.

Trust them.....the cougar is not traditionally a fast car. Its ashame Frnk doesnt post any more, he was the man with the ATX cougar.

On a budget.....youve got options :)

Jeremys tools will be your best option :wiggle:

Welcome! Add me to the FNJNECO, since I picked up an '04 SRT-4 recently.

I ran a 15.8 at Englishtown with my ATX, but I had pretty much every N/A bolt-on there is(SVT UIM and TB,MSDS Headers, Ypipe, Catback, CAI, chip, wires). With those mods and some good luck, you could maybe hit 15's. BTW, were your runs at a track? Runs anywhere else are not the most accurate. Good luck in your modding though. Feel free to throw me a PM if youve got any questions, Ill help ya out.

No it wasnt at the track but we measured out the 1/4 mile on a stranded road and i had a buddy of mine clock me and we used walkie-talkies to count down to "Go!" One thing that may have hurt my time was a little tiny hill on the road about midway through. Ran the 1/4 mile 4 times on this same road. 1st run - 16.3 second run - 16.8 third run - 16.04 fourth run - 16.00

What are "Jeremys tools" teflon?

Hey, welcome to the boards. I still have my Cougar, but Monmouth County is a bit of a drive from me, so you probably won't see me up there. I'm down in Gloucester County.

But if you're ever looking for shows down here, just PM me and I'll keep you updated.
