My friend picked up a car trailer yesterday from another friend and we picked up the '98 Contour SVT that I bought last weekend.
It has very minor scratches and such, but overall...such a nice car!
Its silver with midnight blue interior and 103,500 miles on her.

Interior is mint, engine bay is spotless (motor was pulled, am putting another in.), has Koni adjustables and Eibachs, new steering rack, B&M shifter, 17" Konig tantrums, as well as the stock SVT wheels, and a few other add-ons.

I will be swapping in SVT cams, LIM, UIM, TB, injectors and ECU into the Cougar motor (has 54,000 miles) and putting that into the Contour, so it will be 90% the same as the original SVT, but I'm putting the Fidanza flywheel along with the Cougar clutch into the SVT so maybe make up some of the horsepower lost from the higher compression SVT block..Oh...also has a DMD.

Just thought I'd share in my excitement!!

wait a minute here.
That car sounds way too familiar, not to mention a long time CEGer from Chicopee just posted about selling his silver 98 CSVT.
You wouldn't have happened to buy this thing off a guy named Mike L, would you???!

Yes indeed I did!! Mike L. is a friend of mine that I met through some other close friends and he is the Creator and keeper of www.Massdriven.com

He has had that SVT sitting for almost 2 years now, and he just couldn't deal with getting it going again...so I rescued it!!!

Needs a little work, but hoefully within the next 2 weeks I'll bring it back to life!

Treasure that DMD. I think he was one of the 16 of us that bought DMD's through Terry Haines. This was before they were readily available through dealerships.
I think they cost us $118 a piece or something ridiculous like that.
We even painted them just for fun.

I woulda thought a simple search of the Duratec forums would have brought up this info, but I guess I'm not using the right search terms.

Anyway, here's a link on DMD info.
(scroll down til you get to the DMD part)

My house hunt has been put on hold for quite a while... Another baby on the way, and some other stuff is just complicating the House thing, so we are staying planted where we are for at least 2 more years, until some major things are payed off and what not...

Just figure it will be easier in a few years, so now is the time to have a little fun!!!

YAY!!! I pulled the motor and tranny out of the Cougar today!!!

Now Ijust have to swap some SVT stuff into it, and drop into the CSVT, fill all the fluids, bleed the clutch, change the fuel filter, make sure everything is connected correctly...and fire it up!!! This is very exciting for me:)
Its the first time in a while I've actually put some serious hours into any of my vehicles...(6 hours today)
I should have this CSVT running within the next week or two.

Just sharing the progress:biggrin:

well...yesterday i figured out that the crankshaft pulse wheel was put on in the wrong keyway slot...(my fault when I installed the cams as I cross-referenced it with the SVT motor in the basement, which had the pulse wheel on the wrong way also...D'OH!!:banghead: )

So, just need to finish pulling the valve covers and sliding the timing cover up, so I can put the pulse wheel on correctly, then re-install everything, and fire her it up!!!

Nice, can't wait to see it. Are you going to keep the basically normal 2.5 in there for good, or eventually put back a full SVT?

It all depends on how the stock motor runs and how long it will last...eventually, I might rebuild the SVT block with new bearings and rings, but that's after I'm done with the Cougar...

I truned the pulse wheel today into the right position, and reinstalled the timing cover and valve covers...just need to put alternator, DMD, UIM, and hook up Battery, y-pipe, and some wires and plugs....

Hopefully it will start right up!

$6,000 and its yours!!! or I keep it  cause that's the only way I'll get rid of it... need to have a family car, so either the SVT stays or the Hyundai stays...one of them needs to go within the next 3 months, and the SVT is a little roomier than the Elantra...

Its............ALIVE

WOOO-HOOOOO!!!!

It was SOOOOOO nice out today! It took me 3 hours to get everything put back together and start the SVT beast!!! Took a few minutes to get the fuel to even out the revs, but it finally did, and WOW...I love this car!

It still needs some air bled out of the Power Steering system and coolant system...the A/C compressor needs to be re aligned, cause its slightly crooked, and the pulley is making a "squeeking" noise from the belt rubbing the inside lip of the A/C pulley...

There is a "check engine" light, but I believe its from the Crank sensor throwing a code due to the Pulse wheel being on wrong before... I'll get that erased after i get her registered!

Can't wait to get her on the Road...legally that is!!!

I did take her for a quick spin around the neighborhood afew times, but didn't hit any main streets....damn this car is frickin' quick!!!
