i painted the door panels in my car with acyrlic paint to give it that plastic/rubber look... it looked very tackey at first. I put 3 coats of paint on to it... still deciding if i should put more paint..... If i really screw this up i can buy the topshopheadliner door panels ( fiberglass or carbonfiber) and attach that right on.. ( seems to expensive anyway ) .. but if u think this looks to tacky then i would cover it up then... :(

It looks alright, hard to tell, those pictures are very low quality.

Yeah those pics are pretty bad so it's hard to tell. I'm guessing that first pic was before you added more coats? I dunno, the last few look pretty good. Again very hard to tell though.

yah the pictures too pizelated, but don't go on what people say to you on what they think man, go by what you think looks good, it's not our car, it's yours! How did you paint those? did you take them off to paint them or did you do something else? because it kinda looks like you just painted them while still attached to the door... try and get a higher MP camera to take some better quality pics, I'm going to hold my opinion off for those pictures!

it looks ok, but the seams look messy...and from those pics that may be the only sign of "tackiness" i can see, other then that they look good.

but like u said, if it doesnt turn out well u can always go for the f/g or c/f panels....and then u could tape them off and paint them:biggrin:

it is very very hard to get acrylic to look good... especially interior. (actually this is the first time ive heard of anyone doing it).
i would just redo it using a primer/paint combo...

dont worry, acrylics are easy to take off :)

i would give u guys a better quality picture. I can't up load it here because it keeps saying i had to make it smaller.. and smaller ... and smaller.. I wish i could show the actually picture without reducing the quality. The seems i can take the paint off that by chipping the edges which i already did. Now i need to get some type of coating of glaze over it to make it shine.

Its basically cloth, isn't it? Why not get some type of cloth dye or paint? Don't take it too bad, but just straight up spraypainting your door panels seems kinda cheap and cheesy.

Pics really don't look too bad from here, but get a higher res image. If you get it to look awesome, just don't tell anyone you spraypainted it.

Oh, if its too big, sign up for a Photobucket account (http://www.photobucket.com) and you can upload up to 512k, IIRC. It gives you easy copy/paste options to paste them in here too.

it said the maxium res that i can upload here is only 120kbs...
NO, i didn't spray paint the cloth... on 01-02 cougars, that cloth part is type of plastic, i painted it with a brush. All the extra paint that got onto the stereo or door handle i scrapped off easily because it is acrylic.. ( one of the main reasons why i picked acrlic ) ..

Ah ok, I was thinking of my 99, its got a clothy kinda look to it. I'll be stripping mine down sometime and fiberglassing them, I've seen other people do it.

What is going to happen when the temperature gets hot???!!?!?!

I think that might be a huge problem.

If the temp gets hot, the acrylic paint starts hardening. Right now the white looks like its stieroform .. like a dry look. I want to buy some type of paint glaze to put over it for the time being. Maybe in the summer i might get the fiberglass ones and have that professionally painted. .. who knows..

acrylic can take long time to cure.
i remember i had a project done in acrylic in college and i left it in the car for the afternoon... needless to say, i didnt have a project after that.
