Hey guys I was wondering how hard it is to remove and replace struts on a 99 cougar. I took it to a local suspension shop and they said it would be a very difficult job, so i was just wondering.

Thanks a lot guys.

they want your money...lol

its really not a difficult job to do. i can change struts in about 10-15 mins per tire. you just need the right tools. a spring compressor/impact wrench is your best friend.

Really? Even the rear? That's suprising. They made it seem like it would take hours or something. I don't really know much about suspension, but I had a feeling they were trying to poke my eyes.

the rear is even easier than the front. your probably looking at about a 1 1/2 hour job for all 4, counting the time to jack up and place on jack stands and remove tires.

30 minutes for the front. 20 for the rear. and thats with two beer breaks.....but then again i can do it with one hand tied behind my back.....well behind the back holding the beer

its not hard. just don't strip any bolts

and just think....me and gail work off of jackstands. imagine how fast a professional shop with lifts and airtools probably does the job.

i mean all businesses deserve to make a profit, dont get me wrong, but automotive service industry based businesses have a insane markup percentage.
