Is the Chicago area in need of teachers?

Well, I am an unemployed teacher from Michigan who desperately needs a teaching job. The end of my road is here and I was wondering if the suburbs of Chicago are in need of any teachers. Since Chicago is only 4 hours from home, moving there sounds very appealing nowadays. So, if anyone has any info...please share. Plus, if I move, you will gain a new member.

i saw you post in MC. I teach in NW IN. I can check with my school corporation to see what we have opening up. Check this out http://www.doe.state.in.us/peer/welcome.html. you can post your resume and look for jobs. i got a couple hits from thee when i was first looking

If it helps, I am certifed in elementary education with edorsements in math and science, which enable me to teach middle school here in Michigan. I don't know if my certifications will carry over--but that's what I've got.

yes there are teaching jobs, but just like anywhere else, theres alot of people in the job pool, so fighting for a spot can be pretty difficult [my aunt did the hiring for one of the districts until last year when she retired].

A number of my friends are middle/jh teachers in the area. I'll ask around, but it would help if you had a resume availible.
