So I was driving down our main drag with a female friend to meet up with some friends at the movies. Just driving like any normal person would we notice this kid checks her out in this old late 80's style Prelude rusted out, with a rattling stereo, we both laugh and I tell her to wave back (while I jokingly act as if we’re dating but not being bothered by the wave). Anyways, he goes to show off and pulls in front of me getting a light with a red civic hatch (looks like a ’94ish) so I pull behind the civic as I hear them rev their tiny engines (of course the civic had it’s typical ricer exhaust). Light turns green civic takes off, and of course I wanted to show the civic some Cougar power. I gun it as well passing the Prelude and switching lanes in front of him so I can get side by side with the civic. With luck on my side we get a light together, so he gives his tin can muffler a rev, now I know it’s on. I respond with a little rev myself (my friend being embarrassed I’m going along with this), then I happen to notice the driver of the civic shakes his head. It wasn’t the I’m going to get my ass kicked shake, it was the you don’t know what your messing with shake. Now I’m curious how his ‘fancy’ rice rocket will do (or how I will do) I rev it to 4k for my launch, light turns green and with some minor tire spin I’m off. The civic is right beside me. SH--! I shift at 6500 and he jumps ahead ½ a car length, shift into 3ed and he’s about 1 ½ ahead, and we both shut it down. Civic turns off and I all embarrassed drive to the movies.:flushed:
So about a week later after being slaughtered by the civic I’m telling a friend at work about the butchery and he tells me he knows the guy. So I ask him what he’s done to his car… turns out the kid did an engine swap with a stage 2 clutch and lightened flywheel, and his engine puts out about 170-200hp.
Dam ricers, that civic was such a sleeper. :disgust:

Sleepers rule, what sucks about the whiny exhaust is that if you want exhaust for a honda thats about the only way you can go.

Yeah thats true. But it was nice to see a civic that wasn't all rice and no go with a million stickers on it.
I like sleepers tho thats what I'm planning to do with the Cougar, I just hate racing sleepers lol :)

Good maybe you learned a lesson...not all civic's are rice...and not all of them are slow either. ;)

haha talk about a sleeper. My friends brother races his mustang 5.0 in the NMRA Renegade class (street legal class) and runs 8.70's. That's the biggest sleep there ever is!!!

sinces this is pretty relevant i didnt want to start a new thread...
my friend has an 89 civic hatchback, he puta hi-flow cat, ricer exhaust, cold air intake, and a short shifter in it. I just have my cougar with my intake and short shifter....
well he wants to race...what do you think the outcome will be? Im racing him this weekend if I can find that ****ing retaining clip for my shifter

Hey dude, I don't think you'll have a problem with him, this civic had a B18 in it port and polish and many more mods. I've raced other civics with exhaust and stuff in my old car ('75 LeMans) and blew their doors off, and my Cougar is almost 2 seconds faster in the 1/4 then my LeMans. Thats why I thought I would kick this civic's ass. But if it has a stock engine it'll be perty slow.

Not too long ago I was working on my Coug at the base auto hobby shop. Just so happens the guys next to me were putting the finishing touches on an engine swap done to a genuine mid 90's Si. Its putting down roughly 200hp to the wheels, and has gone through some serious weight reduction. The only thing on the exterior not stock is the exhaust and the window tint. That car would eat me alive.

Yeah a buddy of mine did an engine swap in his civic and it runs high 14's low 15's... thos things have tons of potential. I saw a video clip of one blow a Viper's doors off.
Oh yeah and yeah it was perty embarrising to loose with a girl in my car lol. espically after I was making fun of the kid in the prelude.

They catch you by surprise because of how many just have intake and exhaust. They arent really fast. 200 fwhp after an engine swap with how light they are. They can move.

I was talkin to a friend one night about how Civics had no torque. He said they didnt need any as light as they were. Thought that was kinda nifty... being that its true. They weigh what, 2700 with someone in it? lol
