Probalbly a dumb question, I just need someone to verify what I'm almost positive of. The stock 6disc changer doesn't have any type of RCA outputs, does it?

Not that I can remember, only a plug for the wire harness.

No, it doesn't.
You'd still need the stock head unit to control it, so I'm not sure how much the RCA outputs would help. (Unless you have something very unusual in mind.)

Huh.. wait, what? No. Where did you get that idea? I figured maybe there was a possibility mercury would put some rca's on the back so I wouldn't have to splice into my speakers.
Thanks.

there are converters to plug the stock changer into an aftermarket headunit aux input, but when I looked into it, it was way more expensive that it was worth to me. IIRC, something like $150 on eBay.

Tygerr, I'm still not clear on what you were thinking, but I guess it's a moot point anyway. It sounds like you were hoping to run RCAs from the changer to an amp for a subwoofer or main speakers...

I think he has a 6-disc in dash Cd player/changer. Not the 1-disc in dash + 6 in the trunk.
But I have no idea about RCA pre-outs, I doubt they are there as OEM's are usually not that accomodating for future end-usee expansion.

Yep, you're probably right. I didn't notice the "2002" in his sig. :)

That was exactly my question. It has the 6-disc in-dash. I was simply wondering if Ford would have by chance put some RCA's on their headunits. I mean, come on, who would want to get rid of an indash six disc?
I guess I'll just end up using a LOC i believe it is, talking to a roadshop guy at work I should be able to splice into the rear speakers and hook it up via that. Any input on mtx amps? He said they come with a wire that converts the speaker wire to RCA's, and from my understanding sound quality isn't hurt at all by splicing via RCA's. I just want something simple, a little 10" Kicker sub. :)

Some cars do have this feature; for example, my Impala's stock radio will do preamp output though you do have to buy an adaptor (or solder RCA connectors on the stock wires near the stock amp). But not our Cougars. :(

Sorry I missed this until now. No, the OEM 6 disc in dash head unit has no RCA outputs of any kind. I used quick splice connectors to hook up my BassLink inputs.
