exactly as the title reads, I have a 2.5l ATX and I've got my income taxes coming in.. I'm wondering which should I get first... headers? or svt uim and tb?
I cant afford all 3 at the same time. ;)

i would say SVT stuff. it makes the car more fun to drive stop and go.
headers= more horsepower
svt intakes and TB = less horsepower added than headers but much better throttle response.

I'd say headers.

Headers first but the SVT Manifolds are nice to have too.

Definetly headers. SVT parts add some, but headers(MSDS baby) were the best bolt on I've done, hands down. The power difference from about 4000 and up is straight up awesome. And the sound, dont even get me started lol.

i have a 99 atx 2.5L and reading all of this its like my car wont really ever be that fast.Even on the road I dont really look to race as my car feels quick but not fast.Anyway i installed injen CAI and ordered headers and the muffler shop labor would be 2 hours.Am I going to notice the difference?Once I get that done I guess Ill be lookin at the SVT Tb which should be real easy to install as its right there in the open. Then depending on the injectors im lookin to adad 75 hp shot.

I wish I had the money for shops to do my work. I'd have so many more mods.

The only reason im having the headers put in by a shop is 2 hours isnt bad at all and easier than messing with it.The nitrous ill put in myself but still waiting on answers in the f/I forum telling me whether or not i need to install 19lb injectors to make sure i dont lean out as stock injectors at 17lb are only good to 210 hp.

I already ordered the tranny cooler that danG put the the thread for and lookin for a front bumper to add so the cooler can have its own air.I was lookin at sp motorsports where i got my intake and springs from. They have superchips that you can order for 225 bucks with a 17hp increase and 20ft lbs torque.http://www.spmotorsports.com/contour_elec_chips.html.Im going to order this but is there anything else Ill need along with this?Well let me know plz and any advice as im looking at all ways to get a lil more power.Im adding either zex or venom dry shot within the next month so ill need a chip anyway right?

I have been in your shoes. Get the I/H/E first, then worry about the TB/UIM. I got the SVT UIM/TB, it's nothing major, but I am pretty sure the headers will provide me huge gains sound and power wise.
And these cars can go fast, but if your serious you will need a built tranny, 3L and/or F/I to beat your daily mod'ed ricers (RSX, WRX, SRT-4, Spec-V, etc)

I had I/H/E and when i did the SVT upgrades(UIM, LIM and TB for me since i have an early 99) i felt a nice power change. Way better throttle response and the general pull of the car was harder even more in the upper rpm range. Its a nice mod to have but theres other things to do first.

nope, those are for the older model cougars.
Sure, the pic doesn't match, but what if those ARE the right ones? (But would you really want to buy from a shop that doesn't even know when the Cougar was actually MADE??? )
They're not supposed to be sold as of 2/1/2006 due to a lawsuit filed by MSDS due to what basically amounted to design theft.

I was lookin at creative compacts headers and they are weapon R and are still for sell.Only 340 dollars so im going to order a pair as long as theyll actually ship them out.Anyone have any idea on how much labor for a muffler shop Iwould be lookin at...estimate..just a ball park figure.

A shop told me 3 hours. Labor cost varies a lot, I know the owner of a basic shop and he still said $45/hour, but a buddy of mine with an SVT Cobra pays $100/hour for a local guy he knows well and trusts. I wouldn't pay a friend $100 an hour to work on my car, but he's really serious into street racing, and I guess doesn't want to take any chances. With any reasonable deal at a shop, you should see $60/hour and a 2-4 hour job depending what they're looking at, so $120-$250 for installation is my guess. In reality, even a veteran will take 3-4 hours on an MTX (which is easier than ATX) with a great install kit (like MSDS).

Yeah, I just wish MSDS wern't damn near $700 after everything (minus install). I know they are the best, but for intent the only one. That sucks... lol.
