Im going to call around here eventually, but is it cheaper to get a custom mandrel bend exhaust made by a local shop vs spending 400-500 dollars on a trubendz setup?

I figure if it is, I can do that and still be able to afford the SVT UIM($150-$200) and TB($75ish). If I have to get the trubendz, then prob. not lol.

Also, I can't remember...which year(s) had the better flowing UIM? I know there was a couple different ones that varried 10cfm of flow. I know its not that huge, but might as well go for the better.

It would prolly be cheaper...but you won't get both the SVT UIM and the TB for the price you want. The SVT UIM usually go for 300+ and the TB are usually about 100 bucks...sometimes you can find them cheaper...but not often.

Aslo there is no difference in any of the SVT UIM's. They are all the same. Some year SVT's had extrude honed primary inlets on the heads, but the UIM was the same.

Yeah, I'll have to call around and check. The prices I got were from car-part's website. There were several SVT spec UIM's running for that price. The TB though was around $100 as you said.

Depends on the deal you get, just search around. I've bought all my parts used from users here or on ebay. My exhaust for 300, UIM for 300, Tb i bought new though but it was only 140, Headers were 400.

Call around local shops, it may be cheaper to get one custom done, but If i were you I'd get a pic of a trubendz or borla exhaust and tell them that's the way you want it to look, w/ a 2.5" diameter of course, then just pick your muffler and throw on some resonators if you want to quiet it down. You can always hit up columbusracing.com and see if anyone there has a hook up for bending exhausts, i think there was a thread about it just a little while back. I'll get back on that.

Edit: Results from post

"Creative custom choppers should be able to do it. call kelly at 740-632-0694 and tell him greg sent ya."

"Beanies on east main does all my work."

"call mark at Eagle I am pretty sure he can do stainless as well"

Hope that helps.

Not true. The 2000 CSVT UIM had a higher rate of flow. I'm not sure of the exact numbers but I know the flow of the 2000 is somewhere in the low 180s vs the high 170s of the 98 and 99. Also, I paid $175 shipped for my SVT UIM, from car-part.com, and bought the TB from blackcoog at roughly 115 shipped.

you are correct, you'd have to search over at CEG for the numbers but the earlier SVTs are single honed and the later ones are duel honed. I was just searching for this thread yesterday but unfortunately I cant quote the information any better than that [and it being friday evening, I am way too lazy to find the thread for you... try looking in the last max-honed UIM group buy, I know its in there]

Actually there was a post on CEG that stated all the svt uim's flow the same, the extra power in the later years wasn't from honing the uim. So that's controversial and not exactly correct. No one here from my knowledge has ever tested the two. Here's the post I made from CEG. Linky (http://www.newcougar.org/forums/showthread.php?t=88846)

Tru-bendz Exhaust (no walk in shop is going to have a mandrel bender and crush bends are worthless!)
Modified stock Y-pipe.
GMK CAI kit or Short Ram with a heat shield.

Call it a day.

Well I already have the CAI (just haven't put it in yet, doh!), modified stock y pipe? How you do that?

Yeah I know crush bends are worthless, but I swore that shops (At least some) had a mandrel bender. I wanted to try and get the pipes at 2.25 instead of the trubendz 2.5". I heard thats actually gives us the best results unless F/I or built high compressioned N/A.
