This year I expect more people than just GMK and me!! You love your car ---- I dare you to drive it.
The Tail of the Dragon (http://www.tailofthedragon.com/index.html) is a famous (infamous?) stretch of US 129 in the Smoky Mountains, loved by motorcyclists and auto enthusiasts.... and Kenny & me! We drove it on the way to Fest last year & spent a weekend on it with CEG, and had a blast. It's "318 curves in 11 miles" (http://www.tailofthedragon.com/maps_dragon_road.html) with no intersections, and few places for speed traps.
We will run north through the Dragon to CougarFest from Robbinsville, NC on Wednesday morning, July 5. We need to start fairly early because it's likely to take an hour for a group to drive the Dragon, then 7 or so hours more to get to Fest. A secondary meeting place would be at Deal's Gap (which is on US 129 on the TN-NC line, and has lots of Dragon souvenirs).
I'm going to stay at the Microtel (http://www.microtelrobbinsville.com/) in Robbinsville, NC Monday & Tuesday nights beforehand. Peg & I plan to go to Robbinsville's Independence Day celebrations (http://www.grahamcountytravel.com/july4/index.html) , especially the "Antique Car Show" and fireworks, as well as fitting in at least one run up & back through the Dragon. The Microtel's listed on the Dragon websites and is used to Dragon riders/drivers, and was fine last October when CEG people stayed there.
Post if you'll join us - I know GMK is planning on it. And we want to know who else is really going to run with us.
