I can't welcome you. I'm not in that club yet
And yeah...your car is getting a little warm there. Are your gauges right?

if your car is that warm already shouldn't the CEL have gone off already...mine only stays on for about 5 seconds to tell me it is working...
and i too cannot welcome you to the club as i am not a member either...
however i can bid farewell to yet another cougar...crossing over into the realm (sp) of diagnostic nightmares...

If I wasn't moving I would be there in about a month or two myself, and I'm only at 91k right now, but now my daily commute will only be a fraction of what it was before. It will now proabably take the rest of 2006 to hit 100k with my commute being so short now.

Yeah, same here. Next time it does it try to get into Diagnostic mode (search for the how-to) and see what exactly its reading. Keep in mind, your coolant needs to be flushed every 5 years! If you're still on OEM fluid, look into getting it flushed and new coolant (the red stuff, DexCool). See if that fixes it. You could even just be low on fluid, which will do the same thing.

That is incredibly hot. Either you have a screwed up cooling system, a blown head gasket, or when you put your gauges on you didn't re-center your needle.
Put the car in diagnostic mode and tell us what it says your coolant temp is when the needle is that high.

Temp sounds about normal. Fans should kick in around 215F if you idle for a while and then it will drop back down to 190-200F. Did you not put the needle on correctly when you put the gauges in? What's the check engine light for?

I guess I put needles on wrong, I thought it would correct itself maybe.
code is Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold.
I guess that is for Intake manifold or maybe a bad o2 sensor
