In the 2nd shot it looks like someone decided to play Crocodile Hunter with the kitty. Who won?

I think he's checking to see if its a male or female. Girl cats can be pretty mean.

A quick update.
The cougar was roaming in a residential area, near an elementry school. It took four tranquilizer shots to bring it down. The second photo is of a wildlife official helping to subdue the cougar while the tranquilizer took effect.
The cougar is a 80lb female, about 12 to 18 months old. It has been placed in a wildlife sanctuary. Its claws were not clipped, so it is unknown if it was wild, or someone's "pet".
