My '99 (european built) Cougar didn't come with the lower bungs on the stock headers. I bought some second hand MSDS Headers, and noticed that they had the lower bungs ready for the lower 02 sensors (which my car doesn't have). Just wondering, if I were to buy these headers new, would they come with something (plugs/caps) to fill these bungs?

I don't want to weld these bungs shut just in case I want to sell them in the future.

Thanks.

Try and exhaust shop to see if they offer plugs that you can screw in.

You'll have a VERY difficult time finding bolts to fit those, a very strange bolt. I ended up calling Marty at MSDS and he told me he could ship em, but it'd take like a week and they were like 10 bucks a piece, no joke. I forget the exact size, but it's a big bolt with a fine thread, I could NOT find anything that fit. For some reason I'm thinking an 18mm bolt w/ a 20pitch... something of the sort.

My solution? Found something the right size, cross threaded the bolt into the pipe and welded around it. Problem solved, and a lot cheaper in my case. Did all european cougars delete the lower o2's?

Thanks guys..

Yah, I took it down to the local screw/fastener/bolt shop (eg: thats all they do), and they told me they couldn't even order anything in to suit. I then thought that maybe a new MSDS kit (since mine was second hand and possibly incomplete) would come with the bolts to plug the bungs - to suit the 2001+ cougars with no lower o2 sensors ...maybe i'd be able to pick some up from someone who didn't need them.... but I might call Marty now and see if he can hook me up.

I may have a couple of O2 bung plugs in my tool box. I will look into it today or tomorrow. Send me a PM

I have a few bad O2's that would work. Just cut the wires off. Let me know if you are still looking.

Good call. I went to autozone to just buy new ones to plug em, yea, changed my mind really quick after I found out the prices. Went to a junkyard to get used ones, they just told me to go away. Asshats.
