Spoke with DeWayne again tonight. Assuming the Fest committee so chooses, Logan Motorsports WILL be in attendance and offering their full line of services.

DeWayne believes they can reasonably tune four cars per day. As I'm sure you will all agree, this is not something you want rushed. Four cars per day may not SOUND like a huge number, but it will be done and done right.

The drag strip in Muncie is an event for Friday evening that I believe most who have their car tuned on-site will want to attend. I have seen I believe at least eight, and possibly ten, people who like their car tuned by Logan at Fest. Obviously LMS would not be able to get all the cars properly tuned by the time the drag strip opened Friday night.

However, there is good news, and its not that I just saved a bunch of money on car insurance by switching to Geico. Logan Motorsports is willing to show up in Indy Wednesday evening and begin tuning cars right away Thursday morning. If it would be possible to get four or five cars in search of dyno tuning to show up a day early, this would ease congestion and allow for more people to reap the benefits of the dyno.

Please post in here if you would be willing to show up to Fest a full day early to have your car tuned.

I figured you'd be an easy one. They're definitely looking forward to getting their hands on your car man. ;)

I can't wait either. :D That'll really be the first time I get to play with my car with the new motor, especially now that I bought another project car.

I called Dewayne so he knows what's going on but I'll possibly be there
early Thursday to get my flip chip tuned from them. figured I'd post
anyway.

Thanks gyger. For anyone else, even if you contact them, please post in here. I'm trying to help organize this for them as best as I can as they are very busy people and it will only increase as the racing season approaches.

BTW, they said they had a guy from Cincinatti coming in this week for tuning, is that you?

I am currently not interested in Drag racing my car. Sorry guys. So I'd be in for getting it tuned on Friday or evening Thursday.

Ok, right now we've got four for Thursday. I know E1 will be there Wednesday evening so he can go Thursday morning. Probably go Rikenbomb after that, then Gyger, then Instigator, if that sounds good to everyone

I will also be showing up a few days early. So count me in for some dyno tuning.

I currently have an SCT Xcal2. will he be able to use that to tune my car?

BigBalledOX
01-31-2006, 09:42 PM
Nah, if you're getting it up on the dyno he'll use his software to tweak it Kenny.

Nope, I have a shop down the street from me. They are going to be
getting me some base pulls just to get me close to norm with my 50
shot. I'm going to have Dewayne tune my flip chip for a 75shot.

By the way where are they going to be doing the tunning? My car is quite loud

HAHA Oh holy hell....I can't imagine the hotel is cool with this!

Maybe if they put us around back by the lake or something.

Oh yea, hey GMK....yea I'll use the XCal2 to flash your car, but like BBOX said I'll make you a custom file and then download it into the XCal2.

Also, I wanted to add something here. As a result of the large amount of dyno tuning that will apparently be taking place, my dad and I have decided that a lower price will be offered regardless on regular horsepower and torque dyno pulls. We haven't completely settled on a price, but think something like $60. The most it will be is $65.

Eh, someone pointed out the sound competition was held after dark last year and they had no problem with it.

I have seen dynapack dynos done at shows in parking lots. I wouldn't see a problem with this.

EternalOne

Yeah, the SPL was held in the parking lot.

DeWayne, what do you need to operate the dyno? I assume power, but I hope its 110? How many amps do you expect the unit to pull? I assume we'd put the dyno as far from the hotel as possible, and most likely under a tent (I'm bringing the BIG tent, so we can park the car under it and you can work in the shade, this tent will also double as the SPL tent during that). Any other special needs for you to work? (We might even be able to get wireless Internet access out there this year.)

I'm interested strictly from a tuning aspect. Assuming we'll be autocrossing on Friday, I'd like a Saturday slot as I'm not interested in drag racing either.

When it gets closer to Fest you should have everyone email you with what they want DeWayne, to keep everything nice and sorted.

Can I just stick with the stock ECU or whatever? Basically, my car burns through fuel like people at a bean convention burn through methane. The fuel trims look good and I passed emissions, but it's pretty brutal.

Yeah, I'll be there late Thursday/early Friday, I'd like to get my stock ECU tuned. But what's the cost we're talking about here? <$250, or else I can just buy something myself.

I had the same question.

BigBalledOX
03-17-2006, 08:32 PM
As far as tuning goes, you can't simply "reflash" the stock ECU, you have to have either a SCT Superchip or a XCal2 to have the car tuned. If you PM Logan Motorsports, you'll be able to discuss pricing with them

evilkowz
03-19-2006, 02:52 PM
I'm getting an Xcal2 next week, I'll have to see how the tuning the program feels first.

I currently have a Superchip in my car...does this mean that they can reflash the chip to work better with my setup?? If so, please put me in for what ever slot is still available.

Honestly your best bet is to PM LoganMotorsports. I notice you're in Michigan, I don't know how close you are but these guys are in South Elgin, IL, a little southwest of Chicago, so I don't know if visiting them in advance would be an option or not.

Me and Sami will be getting there the Sunday before fest starts. May want to put Sami's car on the dyno, since it probably will be the highest horsepower atx that neco has ever seen lol. I'm doing the tuning on our shop's dyno, but we can definitely hook it up on the pak's to see what the difference between our AWD system and the pak system is!

OH NO, YOU DIDN'T BUY A KIA DID YOU? =(

Man, I can tell you house of nightmares that I had with the two Kia's I owned... 8 recalls in one year on the Sportage, and then the axle broke in half and sent me in circles down the highway at 70mph... at 2am... on Christmas Eve... I should have really thought before I bought, since I was a Marine I knew ahead of time what K.I.A. meant... :p

BigBalledOX / Jaged,
I have a question in regards to the superchip. It looks like they will cost $250 at Cougarfest does that come with tuning or just the chip. Also how much horsepower would i expect to gain from this chip? I current have CAI and will have a cat back exhaust before cougarfest.

BigBalledOX
05-18-2006, 12:10 PM
From the chip itself, you may gain a little horsepower.

Look, the chip can only optimize what is on the car. This isn't a magic plug-in thats gonna net you another 20 FWHP just by having it. What the tune CAN do is optimize things like fuel-to-air and timing to give you maximum performance out of your current engine.

If you're planning on continuing to mod the engine, in all honesty, you do not need a chip right now. You're better off waiting until your engine is complete and THEN tuning it, instead of having the chip reflashed every time.
