So I am considering adding an all in one system. Something like a basslink I know a few people have thoses, but there is a basslinkII with has a 250 watts rms versus 200watt of the original basslink. It all so has a port for which you can plug in a card to add a 4 channel output. Does 50 watts make that big of a difference and the possiblity to expand it to power the other speakers to justify more then a $100 increase in cost?

Also what about the audiobahn bass tubes? I know they only have 100 watts rms powering them but they are far cheaper then even the original basslink.

I dont really want to go big into sound I just want to add to the stock system. Whats everyone opinion?

What no one has an opinion on this.:(

Well here are links to similar products:

Im really leaning toward the original basslink just because its cheaper the the new model and offers more power over the other two.

Maybe this will help get some feedback.

I'm not sold on the concept of that plug-in amp for the Basslink II. I haven't had time to look at it closely, though. It's intended to be used to power main speakers, right? Is it built as well as a standalone amp (remember, it's a $200 module)? Where does it get its power - do you have to have a heavier wire to the Basslink than you otherwise would?

Personally, I'd be hesitant. If it works as well as a standalone amp, it'd be a great space saver, but if it doesn't it's really going to suck. My plan for my Impala is to use a Kenwood KAC-8402 ($250) which has RCA-outputs for linking into the original Basslink sub - for $50 more, I'll stick with the more tried-and-true option. And it makes upgrading much easier.

I'd look for reviews online of that module.

definitely check out crutchfield, as stated above. i was looking at the same thing a few weeks ago and they seemed to have some pretty nice, affordable stuff.

my friend just put one of the kenwood units in his car. actually sounds pretty good so i would have to recommend that. the real question is, your spending $300-400 on this sub, why not just do it the right way for just about the same amount of money? Check ebay, especially if you dotn want somethin real loud. I got an 800w audiobahn amp for 120, and two 12" audiobahn 1206T's for 220. all that incudes shipping. and my setup is pretty loud, something not a big, like s smaller amp and a 10" sub would be cheap as hell for high quality brand new stuff. Plus i just built my own box so i saved like $100 there, its not hard to do at all, especially if you just go with a basic single sealed box.

I looked at Basslinks for a while. I knew I'd never make use of the "expandability" of the II version. I ended up putting a DUB8AT (same as Audiobahn's ATB8AT w/ different labeling) in my trunk and I've been happy. I picked it up off of eBay for about $100 shipped. 8" flat-bottomed tube, 100W RMS, everything needed for installation included, as well as a remote bass control. I'm sure the Basslinks sound better with the larger woofer and higher power, but neither of them is going to approach your "average" 2x12 setup, so you're already accepting a compromise with an all-in-one. I couldn't justify the jump from $100 to $200+.

Crutchfield tends to sell for list prices, and you can frequently find things cheaper elsewhere. However, I buy almost all of my audio equipment from them anyway, because I've never had a complaint in 12 years or so of dealing with them, and because I get orders from them very quickly because they have a warehouse nearby (usually, next business day even though I pay for standard shipping).

I can't compare the BassLink with the other brands, but I don't think the BassLnk II is worth the price difference. I've had a BassLink in my Cougar for two years this May, and I love it. It was easy to install, it doesn't take up a lot of space, it hits hard (it may only be 200 W, and 10" but it's engineered well), and sounds good. I am using the taps off the cabin speakers for input, but since the BassLink has both inputs I am still covered if I ever upgrade the headunit.

It was a little tough to "tune" it, because I'm using the stock 20 W per channel headunit, and the BassLink wants to just overpower the sound unless you turn the gain way down.

I recommend it.

the basslink2 has a square driver so it should have more bass than the origenal basslink

a square driver isn't neccesarily going to make more bass than a round one.

I've heard Basslinks(the original) in two cougars.
And was very impressed, I mean for the size
and price, it bumps just fine.

I just ordered a Basslink T for my Tahoe..
but I'll be sure to see how it fits in the cougar... :D

a 10" square driver has 15% more cone surface area vs 10" round. Add in the passive radiator and you have a total of 30% more surface area. This means more bass.

True. more cone area moves more air. I don't know any specs on them I was just saying a square sub doesnt neccessarily move more than a round one. Many thing sto take into account such as the xmax. If the round sub was capable of moving twice as far as the square one then the round sub would move more air.

Well, yeah...the T is designed to sit behind a nice big truck bench seat and run from one side of the cabin to the other...no wheel wells to worry about.

One of my good friends had an infinity 10" kapa (the white one) and just upgraded to a ma audio. The ma audio one made the infinity sound like, well, crap. Same amp just different sub.
