Not sure if this should go here or F/I... but here goes. I'm getting an 02 escape motor with 02 taurus intake. I have an ATX. Are there any Superchargers or turbo chargers out there for this kind of build?

Custom Fabs. Finish your build, then consider your options. Don't get too ahead of yourself.. do a search in the F/i section and you'll turn up some threads there the ATX F/i info is brought up. good luck.

Oh, I will be doing other things. I dont know if I could even afford a SC, just checking on routes I can take in the future.

Thats ok, DanG spend as much as 15k on his car to turbo it and make it almost a full race vehicle. A supercharger from vortech will run you around 4 grand now adays, with some add ons you'll need. Its alot more money.

This should go in forced induction. There are two "easy" options for F/I, the Vortech supercharger kit which starts near $4k and the . . . correction. There is one "easy" option. I forgot that ADC has halted production on the turbo kit while it develops a "budget" kit. I have zero information regarding the "budget" kit, your best bet would be to contact Arizona Dyno Chip.

Neither of these options are compatible with an automatic transmission vehicle such as yours.

eh....TURBO!!!! The money is in the fabricating for the exhaust plumbing...if you shop right and find a decent shop it shouldn't be that crazy, I'd figure 7-8k for the turbo kit and forged engine stuff. There really isn't that much to it on that car.

here is absolutely no room in the engine bay with that cow of an automatic transmission. if anyone is crazy ebough to try to design a turbo kit for an auto cougar, theyre gonna charge you your left testicle for R & D......not to mention the thing would fail at the power even minimal boost would make......

you might be suprised, sometimes people get real creative with stuff. If it were me I wouldn't even bother trying to put the turbo in the engine bay, I'd put it underneath the car where the y-pipe merges. That way you could keep the existing exhaust up to that point. I'd make a shield for it so that it would be protected, and then I'd use a pump to push the oil to and from the turbo. It's been done before, and actually there is a company that specializes in under car turbocharging. For LS1 cars they just replace the stock muffler with the turbo! The long piping required for the inlet negates the need for an intercooler because of the large amount of surface area exposed to moving air. It's really an ingenious idea, and it cuts down significantly on underhood heat.

man...NO FAITH in the CD4E!!!

I do seem to recall a LOT more MTX-75's doing looser laps, though no one has really pushed the CD4E to see what it can do. However it is rated up to 300ft lbs by Ford. Not to mention Kenny Bell is pushing close to that with their s/c Escape.

A large Tranny cooler is a definte MUST, and it is possible to get the piping in there. Relocation of a few components are required....mainly the a/c accumulator and some assorted lines. I'm suprised though that the first documented person to run a FMIC doubts that something can be done . As always with enough time, ingenuity and of course MONEY, anything can be done.

Also supposedly the new ADC kit will fit the ATX, so you could always wait and see.

GOOD LUCK!

Well considering the only way to fit a turbo, or even a downpipe for that matter on the ATX,you would have to completely hack your electric fan shroud to pieces and your hood, and your bumpers. On top of that you still have engine mount issues and other clearance problems.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the problem was not so much with the D4-E but with the crap-ass stock differential?

Blackcoog

It is the fact that the ATX is so f'ing huge. No room. :)

The MTX's have a crap-ass differential never heard of an ATX having differential problems. I'm not even sure if they have the same differential the MTX's have. I've never taken one apart.

Ummm...what makes you think the CD4E doesn't have a differential? I don't know of a modern car that doesn't have one.

Sorry to bring this back up, but I was speaking to some people that I know about a turbo or supercharger under my hood because of the ATX. They mentioned something about one going onto the bottom of the car with the filter coming out of the trunk? This guy is a little weird (drives an older grand am gt with a huge wing on the back) but I was just wondering.

could you please do your friend a favor and man-slap him in the face.

you are being very vague with that "air filter in your trunk" question, please be more specific.......but from the way you worded it.......

No.

LMAO... I just laughed when he said it. I have no idea what "air filter in the trunk" means. The guy next to him laughed and said hell yeah. I was just like ok, and got back in my car. Hes a strange guy, like I said, he has a huge ass wing on a 199X grand am...

Could be a remote turbo, in which case the intake & filter would be at the rear of the car...
