I've had the stage 3 clutch with my 3.0 setup for a few months now. I've had that horrible grinding whurring noise when engaging the clutch that everyone seems to complain about. I wish I searched more before I bought it, but it's too late for that. Any one been able to do anything to reduce the noise. I don't think there is anything that can be done, but some days I just can't stand it.

The same thing happens to me!

The culprit is the remanufactured throwout bearing. I just orderd a new one from Bill Jenkins for $70 something dollars... I'm dreading all the work I will have to do AGAIN to replace this thing. But I can't live with that noise, especially in stop & go traffic, it's very annoying!

I have the same noise with an OEM Ford unit. Get used to it. It's a tradeoff for a performance clutch. You'll have the noise with or without the TOB from spec.

I also have a stock clutch right now and that thing sometimes makes A LOT of noise. At one time i thought it was rod knock!! LOL

I bought my SPEC Stage 3 a couple weeks ago for my upcoming 3L build and i believe what timeless said is 100% true, "It's a trade off for a performance clutch."

It's hit or miss. It has happened on a few of the Contour SVT's I've rebuilt. I never even touched the transmission on most of them. Just installed the new 3L and hooked it all up.

I wish I knew what the culprit was and what to do about it. I'm kind of used to it, but it's been really cold since I completed my 3L and I wonder if it gets better when it's warmer out? It seems to be the loudest before the tranny runs for a while. I love the performance though.
