I dropped off my SVT UIM at a chrome shop to get it chromed out... and while my friend was taking me back home... he asked.. " So will you lose any HP because its going to be heavier? "... and I said... " oh S&@t..."
Will i lose any HP and Torque because of this... the whole SVT UIM will be dipped in chrome the technichican said... ( excluding the holes and mounts ). I know it will be heavier when i get it back... Please tell me i am not going to lose any HP because of this... :(

is the inside going to be coated? if so VERY VERY VERY little will be lost but lose horse power because a non mechanical item is heavier.. comon think this through and you will kow you won't...

No. You won't lose any hp/tq, not exactly none at all, but less then what you would lose from the added weight of a grocery bag. So basically no.

How are they going to keep the chrome out of the interior of the UIM? do they have methods for that cause i would thing your typical tape job would fall off on the acid baths. ... In theory IF the interior got chromed it would be ever so slightly smaller inside which would lower air flow, but not by much. And of course it probably wouldn't get gunked up as much... don't think the carbon would stick to smooth chrome. ... then again if the chrome plating inside falls off and lands in your cylinders.... that would be bad.

The techichican didn't say he would tape up the holes and mouts. Like the smaller indectures on the manifold wouldn't be chromed. He asured me that the holes and mouts would be sealed up ... i probly should of asked how come to think of it. Then again... its a 3-5 week process... so it will be a while.
But belive me, as soon as i get it, pictures will be posted.

The only thing about chrome is I am pretty sure it holds in heat...
