Can I get the pros, cons, and benefits of each involving drag racing and daily driving? I haven't seen anything like this on here, and I've read a lot of posts.

(I have bad luck with the search button)

ummm... wrong forum again. this would go in 3.0 section. THe section headings on the main screen shows what topics should be posted in each section.

Ok, you aren't making any sense my friend. You said all things not pertaining to the cougar you shouldn't put in garage talk. Yes, these parts fit in a cougar but they are clearly Contour and Escape parts.... not Mercury Cougar parts.... and I did search, but that didn't help me very well. Another thing Rodney... i bet it would have taken you about the same amount of time to type the comparison of the two as it did the flame. You wasted time typing the flame so in essence, was pointless.. thanks for wasting my time and have a good day. :loser:

SVT cams are a hotter profile, as I said in the other post. But there's not so hot as to cause a lope to the engine- They're just hot enough to be interesting. The engine will make more power up top due to the increased valve duration and overlap. This will benefit all aspects of "spirited" driving if you like to live above 4000RPMs. Dragging too. Downside is with a tune to take full advantage of the cams, you'll need premium at the pump.

HOW MANY POSTS DID YOU PUT IN THE WRONG SECTIONS? THREE THAT I SAW. I WAS BEING NICE AND GIVING YOU A HEADS UP. YOU SAID YOU TRIED A SEARCH BUT DIDNT COME UP WITH ANYTHING. I ASKED IF THERE WAS A HOW TO. I WASN'T FLAMING I WAS GIVING YOU A HEADS UP. YOU SHOULD DO A LITTLE MORE SEARCHING AND READ THE FORUM POSTING GUIDLINES IN MY OPINION.

AND YES THING NOT PERTAINING TO THE COUGAR SHOULD GO INTO GARAGE TALK, BUT IF YOU READ THE SECTION HEADINGS THERE IS ONE LABELED 2.5 DURATEC AND ONE LABELED 3.0 DURATEC. THE ESCAPE IS A 3.0 DURATEC ISNT IT. AND THE SVT IS A 2.5 DURATEC ISNT IT. HENCE THE WRONG FORUM.

OH AND YOU POSTED THE SAME QUESTIONS IN SEVERAL DIFFERENT THREADS SO WHY WOULD I WASTE MY TIME ANSWERING THEM IN ALL THE DIFFERENT THREADS?

Ok, so since SVT goes to 2.5 and escape goes to 3.0 should i double post? Guess thats what I'll do from now on. not trying to be rude, but when i search for 3 hours and find a little of what im talking about opposed to typing a question and having you guys answer it within the hour is much better. This forum has been around fora while. I bet every question ever imagined is/would be on here if it wasnt for whatever happened to it. In that case, why would we all be here?

Rodney - Quit yelling.

Nafunu - Cross-posting is frowned upon and it's not necessary. Don't look for the quick fix here- We're a resource that can be used, but you need to do you research, learn the background, realize that yes, we've been here for a while, and that a LOT is searchable.

hey friend, here I'll help you out a little. My theory is composed as such:

170 HP vs 200 HP SVT (in order of HP gain %)
1) Compression (pistons + heads)
2) SVT Cams (less then 20% of gains) [suggested by claymoreWW]
3) SVT manifolds (proven ~5-6 HP as of SVT lite) [DanG & Massiv]

With that in mind, we can see that the SVT cams are important in making large gains. However, after speaking with blackcoog on the subject, he had stated that 3L cams produce nice torque feel, while during daily driving is in uniform. The (top end) power production of SVT cams isn't noticed unless near the redline, on the dyno, etc. So, the 500 dollar (250 cams + 250 timing components) question is, do you want SVT cams that much? You make slightly less power without them but 3L cams are acceptable. 3L cams are suggested better for daily driving (im going this way too) and with 3L cams you don't need a really high octane rating (93).

Does that help you any?
