Hey i was wondering what was so great about the newer focus shifters ...i was looking at some foci at the local junkyard and found 2 newer ones with 5 speed trannys an 00 and an 03 they both looked to have the same shift tower and it doesnt have a reverse lockout. Anyways i was just wondering what the purpose of this mod was because i was considering it...also if i did get the shifter would i need the cables off the car. thanks for the info

Bump...Im serious all the terry haines people seem to be paying for the upgraded focus shift tower and when i look in junkyards the new 2000-2003 focus shift towers look a good bit different but dont come with reverse lockout...is that the only change or what...let me know
Thanks

buying one through terry haines, also update the shift forks and gives you a coated cogbox, and a limited slip diff of you choice

I think you are slightly confused... the shift tower is located on the transmission itself, where the shift cables meet the transmission. It sounds like you are referring to the shifter assembly, which has the reverse lockout feature.
Hope this helps...

yes the focus shift tower is on the actual transmission , i would recommend getting one of these so the bolt does not break off in the shifter. the mod u can do with the trans in the car very easy to do. u can talk to terry haines or any of us that have done the mod

Too much mis-information here. Terry has seen the focus towers sheer their pin, much like our bolt in the tower. Your best bet is to send the trans to Terry and get his "keyed" tower, which eliminates the stresses that cause the pin/bolt to break and you will NEVER have to worry about it again. Best part is he does this mod to the existing tower, so you don't have to worry about cable end differences and all that.
