View Full Version : Which injectors?

Ok, so, as most of you know, I'm adding nitrous to the 3L. I don't think the 19# injectors are capable of handling the additional horsepower. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm thinking the logical step would be 24# injectors. So, here's my question - I have a return style fuel system, but the engine block is from a 2000 Mercury Sable, so . . . which injectors am I needing to get? Part numbers would be appreciated.

um, dont think the engine block has anything to do with injector sizing
you have a hybrid, and are using your SVT LIM right?
24's sound sufficient. You shouldn't need any more than that.

Sizing no, but I know the 2000 model year was returnless, but I have return style. Y'all can laugh at me, but I wanted to make sure I got the right type of injectors.

i juts thought you would get whichever injector matched your fuel system and whatever your pcm or chip was programmed for....

I doubt your whole fuel system was changed...
Check under your throttle body and see if there is one fuel line or two.
Or ask CougarGT.

Ok.............then if it's return style, you need return style injectors :)

Thats what I was thinking, but I'd rather not look dumb and get it right the first time then have an extra set of injectors lying around.

I'm actually going through this same problem myself.
You can use either type. Return style injectors would match your stock injector clips. You can get these from several different cars.
If you use returnless injectors which came with your 3.0 you will have to change the injector clips. The 3.0 engine wiring harness would be useful for this. I prefer NOT to cut up my wiring harness so am buying the matching injectors.
I have a good post over in CEG on the same subject:
Injector Question (http://www.contour.org/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=3L&Number=1146065&page=1&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=all)
It seems there isn't a whole lot of info on return style 24# injectors. I was planning on sending an email to Bill J and find out if he can do some cross parts matching with the part number, which I havent found yet.
I have also been searching for some pics of the injector clip, but havent been able to find any of those yet either. I plan on taking some whenever I make it back to my car this weekend hopefully. That should allow me to match them up better.
If you find any more info out please let me know.
